I never saw the game(s) on Saturday but I remember Nixon being a bit mouthy when he played in a few ODI games in Australia a few years ago.
I thought then that he seemed like a bit of an idiot, although I'm sure these is just 'heat of the moment' antics.

Nixon is to retire any day now and was probably only offering Buttler some friendly advice on where to invest for his retirement.

I think you are slightly missing my point - Nixon could be heard on the stump microphone almost up to the bowler's delivery stride. I am not talking about clever little comments after the event, this was a deliberate attempt to distract a batsman about to play a shot.

I think sledging has a place but the second a bowler starts his run up there should be some rule in place to be quiet if there isn't already (?).

It is rather lame for a bloke who is 40, feeling the need to sledge a lad who is 20 years old and lets me honest, 20 times as talented!

I respect Nixon a lot for his attitude, effort and old skool ways, but there are limits. To be honest, I thought it was quite sad how far and annoying he seems to go.

If I were in the batsman's place, if there was chat during the run up, I'd wait for the bowler to enter his delivery stride and then pull away.

Do that a few times and see how fast they shut up, especially in these days of poor over rates. Plus it will really pi$$ the bowler off. I'd certainly be having a word with my wicky if the batter was repeatedly refusing to face after I'd run in 15 yards at full pelt.

HM
I would do exactly the same and of course tell Nixon where he can stick his free bus pass.

Nixon is like that (that`s why they call him the badger). He gets in your ear and the likes of Trescothick and Kirby (who know what he`s like) should have warned Butler and the other Somerset kiddies.

I saw Nixon and Butler shake hands and Butler was well upset, so too was Kieswetter..

Big boys game. No place for cry babies.

"Big boys game. No place for cry babies"

It has always been a big boys' game, and soon to be rid of one of it's smaller players.....

neon, it happened in a game I was playing in once.

Our opener was facing the opening quick, and for the first few balls, one of the oppo players who didn't have a game was shouting from the boundary during his run up. Our batter just stepped away as the bowler hit his stride 3 or 4 times in a row. The bowler came over and gave this bloke (his own team mate) a rather substantial piece of his mind. He was a lot quieter after that.

It may be a big boy's game, but it's also a gentleman's game.

Sledgings part of the game Butler better get used to it or he'll spend most of his career upset!

Couldnt care less about Nixon retiring he's a nothing cricketer who's made little impact through a long career.
