I used to love Masters League. It's why I used to play football games. I agree, it just doesn't have the same appeal now. Its ever since the got rid of the original line up. I miss Vorlander, Valery, Cellini, Espinas, Marinda and Castello.

ah those were the days, i bought the game expecting them to be in it

I think I may just be too picky, the game feels so sluggish and the passing is so poor. Best way to score is run down the wing and cross it in. Also whats with the free kicks and corners where you tap the button and it goes to near enough full bar?

I had a record of something like 60 wins 3 losses on online seasons on fifa so maybe im fussy but these games just seem lousy and poorly made. In no other game would you expect such sluggish and unnatural behaviours in the a.i imo

Nick

I'd say that the passing is one of the strongest elements of the game. What annoys you about it?

The lack of accuracy for passing for one, whether I'm use to FIFA where it's quicker to release a pass I'm not sure, and players struggle to control them.
The over the top through ball and through ball is. Set good though, realistic and enjoyable, changing depending on whose playing the pass, and the receiving player takes it well not like FIFA with the "ball stuck under the feet" thing they implement.

However if I want to do a through ball from rw to lw but there is a striker in between the two who I want to pass between no matter how much power I put on the pass they will just try and play it to the striker(or nearest player).

Also clearing from a corner is annoying when you want to pass up to your striker it is always under hit and intercepted no matter what.

Like I said my first pro Evo but the difference between the two games is minimal so far.

What's changed about Master League which makes it less appealing?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think it has just been neglected a bit the last few years, as they move to concentrate more on the online stuff. Personally, I don't play much online. I go on the PS4 to be unsociable, not to have to communicate with or wait for other people.

I used to think part of the fun was creating your own team, kit etc and being able to randomise the leagues so you got promoted into a league with Europe's elite (after several seasons struggling with the default players of course).

These days you pick a Championship team and, with the default players, try to get to the Premier League. That doesn't have the same appeal to me, but maybe I just grew up.

Yeah master league seems a bit basic and what's with the negotiation thingy? Why can't I just buy players most my games are either 7/8-0 or 4-4 lol

Do you play it on the hardest setting with the default players?

Good points. Some of it will just be adapting to the game, it does get easier to pass accurately I promise! Just make sure you are always directing the pass with the L stick. But these two things might help:

1) For passing accuracy, there is a 'pass support' setting. It's default on level 1 where you have to accurately direct the pass with the L stick. There is definitely margin for error here, as I said it takes some getting used to. But if you up the level to 2 or 3, you'll find the passing is more accurate.

2) Through ball from LW to RW without it going to the striker... I know what you mean. One thing you can do is hold L2 before you play the pass. This overides any pre-determination from the computer as to where the pass goes, and makes it an entirely manual pass (for that pass only). So you need to specify exactly the direction (L stick) and power, and the ball will go exactly there. There is an option where an arrow comes out from the player showing the direction while you do this, which makes this much easier to execute. So try L2. But it is tricky.

let me know if those things help

Also experiment with the L2 + high pass (circle). This is when you can really start smacking cross field balls around like Gerrard! That will also help your clearing from corners problem.

Notsomagic thanks for your reply, too many people on here get too butthurt about either game and see faults in one and not the other.

Will try out what you said.

Wolf, I don't know I've just started it, I've kept the master league players, hoping for the epsinas' of the world but they were not there. Got Nico kranjar on loan though does the difficulty change the neogotiation nonsense?

Nick I was kidding earlier by he way, and I agree too much hate flowing about. I just hate the people who obviously haven't played the game and try to make out they have due to fanboism. I am happy for people to have their own opinion but full on bs is just laughable and these people deserve redicul. Honestly for me both games feel better on manual settings, it may be harder to start with but I find it improves the game experience in the long term like Not so Magic says above, and it also adds to game, so if you can't turn that shot in cos you couldn't change direction quick enough, this happens like a real game of football, and totally different to if you had shot support on and the guy tucks it in from the byline kanu style

Both games have their good points. Neither game seems to have the same good points though and it usual comes down to whether graphics and licensing or gameplay are more important.

Its a shame we can't get an amalgamation of both.

You usually set the difficulty when you first start the masters league, as well as setting the frequency of transfers.

I had the chance to do 5 transfers at the beginning tam?but I only had like 4 million to spend anyways and my wage budget is nearly 2 million. so only had 2 million, got niko on loan thats it worth starting again? most players wouldnt come to me anyways

cheers mate, obviously its my initial impressions, I think Fifa peaked at about 2012, so i've been long starved of a decent footballing game, hearing the reviews and the way I use to love pro evo as a teen I thought i'd try it this year, I was buzzing. And it failed to deliver to be honest, but early days yet. Gotta get use to the interface and such.
I did crack up creating my manager for master league though
