Philispurs

Had Poch played a proper team, Spurs would now be in the hat for the next round. Far too many of that team tonight are nowhere near first XI material. The whole of the defence for a start would not get anywhere near my best Spurs XI.

Depends on the Man City game now. If we lose that one that then it amplifies this loss tonight and we would have failed in progressing to the next round as well as resting players for a big game.

I'm personally not too bothered, not really interested in the Capital One Cup. Like last year, if we had reached a final it would have been nice to win because its a shame not to once youre there but otherwise its a pretty non important cup.

It's always a bitter pill when it's your rivals, but if I had to choose one game to lose to them, it'd be this one. They'd all feel the same.

Poch obviously had an eye on this weekends game. And I'm ready for all his haters to be all over this board if we lose having their little tantrum about 'what was the point in resting players...', but he's tried to give us the best chance of a result this weekend against the top team in the league. I'm ok with that.

Two second string teams battling it out for a second rate trophy, could have gone either way,but the quality of Arsenals bench was always going to see them through.

Poch has rested all his first XI so they can lose to City, makes sense. Absolutely fecking clueless. May as well played full strength tonight and won one of the two games, now it will probably be two home defeats in four days.

Right so the only trophy Spurs had a chance in has now become an non important trophy. I see the prem trophy is our target this season.

Only positive for me is that it's unlikely Fazio won't play again this year .

Thank you OP! Finally a positive outlook. Whilst I agree we will get a pasting at the weekend which will make tonight's result look worse, the bigger picture of being consistent in the league against the top 6/ bottom 6 sides does in fact matter.

Stick fazio in the bin though

We can only wait and see hoe the game against Ciity goes. I sense the attitude & atmosphere on here will be totally different if we win!

It has always been a worthless competition and it hasn't suddenly changed because Tottenham are out. If you feel that it is the ONLY cup which we have a chance of winning then that's your fairly low view on Spurs.

What other country in the world has an extra cup competition like we do in the UK with Capital One and St Johnstone paint trophy. They're both a joke and the only reason a team would care is if they reach the final for the sake of having a trophy.

This article is far too rational

Agree with everything OP. I've been pleased with our overall level of performance this season. Massive test Saturday.

Spurs have zero chance of winning the league, and zero chance of winning any cups, because Poch will put out the same sort of teams as he did tonight in both the FA Cup and the Europa League, and the result will be the same, get knocked out by the first half decent team they meet.

I just want a manager who for once took every cup competition seriously. Poch obviously doesn`t. But then he will just pack his bags when he has had enough and move elsewhere, he really does not have any feel for what cup competitions should mean to Spurs fans.

I have a very high opinion of Spurs and I suppose you think Spurs fans watching their team win at Wembley in 1971, 1973, 1998 and 2007 was worthless. You obviously have absolutely no feel for the club then.

What has a Spurs fan watching their team win in those years got to do with anything I said? Well done for supporting the club for so long but my argument is that the competition is not worth getting upset over.

It is nice to win once youre in the final because its a shame not to since youre there but as a whole the competition is not important and it's always been disregarded by even top managers like Ferguson who often played young players.

Thinking that the COC is the only cup Spurs can win this season IS having a fairly low view on Spurs because the FA Cup is also achievable. Whether the manager and the players take it or the Europa League serious is another question but they are certainly capable of winning it.

good to know the only cup we have won in last 24 yrs is worthlessthe modern fan is a fking clueless

So by that logic because a team wins a certain cup then it should be considered important? The fact that we haven't won anything else is the biggest shame.

Fergie also won it four times, though, and you can't honestly be comparing how Fergie treat the league cup to how Spurs should?

In his latter years he actually took it more seriously than he did the FA Cup, which annoyed me, but made sense as you can win that trophy early without it having as big an impact on title run ins and the cl.

Never really understood why its treat with such disdain. It's not the FA Cup, I agree, but it's not a worthless trophy, in my opinion.

More so for a club that doesn't win trophies.

No trophies should be considered worthless, especially at a club like Spurs where they're few and far between these days. But the league cup will always be bottom of the pile.
