I would still choose Richards, don't let bias get in the way
But most other fans are on our board anyway, as you would well know.
I actually posted on the Utd board as it's probably the best way to get a response from Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool fans.
Definitely the one who plays for our club.
hmmm, it's very close, I think Richards should get the nod for the next match but if he doesn't perform top the highest level then drop him for Smalling.
I think once smalling starts playing for England he will not be giving up his spot for a long time.
Also it's not fair when two players are playing well and one seems to get picked over other simpley because they are playing for a big club.
I say start Richards as he has experience and let Smalling play in his natural position of centre back when the time is right.
Richards is an excellent right back, Smalling is a centreback who is an OK but not great backup at fullback.
How is this even a discussion?
It has to be Richards at the moment - no question.
I'm all for giving youth the chance to develop, but Smalling isn't being groomed for the right back role, so what benefit will we get out of it long term?
I have my doubts about Richards, but he certainly a better right back than Smalling at this moment in time.
SuperGoon - Why settle for awesome when you can be DENCH? (U8455)
My apologies though - my response above rather ruins your point!
I would go with Richards, because he has looked to have rediscovered his early promise.
Smalling is only a makeshift right back, although he does look very comfortable and solid there.
Certainly a great option for SAF.
I'd say Micah Richards for sure. Smalling is a good defender, but right now I think Richards because it is more a natural role for him and he has played more games there.

It's a discussion as one has made himself pretty much undroppable, while the other was dropped at the weekend
