Why not? If they win, you're happy and don't care about the money. If they lose, you win some money, so you're happy. Consolation cash.

As some who's never placed a bet what exactly does 5/6 mean?
5/6 means that if you put £6, you win £5. So you get £11 in total back. Very tasty odds to be fair but I think we will smash them
No issue at all! Don't mix business with pleasure
Some people will get high and moral about it. F/ck them.
I remember sitting next to a guy who had put £20 on Hull to beat us at the Emirates years ago. He'd forked out a good £200 for tickets for him and his family and won it all back as consolation for us losing - wise choice!

Imagine if it was a bore draw
Ive done it a few times. I often put money on us not to win when we are actually winning a match. I put 20 on Blackburn to beat us in the FA cup when I saw the team sheet at 8/1
Arsenal are trading at around evens. Isn't it better to lay Arsenal rather than backing manutd/draw @5/6?
I've bet on us to win 3 times this season and we have lost all 3 matches. West ham, Olympiakos and Zagreb
Lucky omen. Do it again on Sunday for Penguin

No, because the point is about softening the blow if you lose...

I bet my mum she'd be proud of me one day - Near paid her mortgage off now.

would have paid it off ages ago if it wasn't for that Off-licence down the road

Yeah she was pretty proud of me following in her footsteps by clearing them out of white lightning
I personally struggle to do it, and could definitely not do it backing Utd against us, infact I find it hard enough including opposition players in my fantasy football team when they're facing Arsenal.
This may however be up for consideration with our bayern fixtures. Wonder what the odds of a Lewandowski hattrick in either fixture will be, he seems to be hot on those at the moment.
Anyone that does take the fact it's their own team into consideration when betting shouldn't be betting at all
The season Sagna facked up and gave away a penalty I put €50 on United +1 at 12/5 when we were 1-0 up
