I'm not so sure! Spurs are a better team than us, and I wouldn't blame Cahill for going to them.

Yes, they are a better team than us, but the best they can realistically hope for now is the Europa League as there is no way they come even close to the standards of City, United, Chelsea or Liverpool anymore. Owen is building a team that can fight to get into the Europa League as well and I believe eventually we will get there so I also think it's a strange one and not much of a step up for Gary.

Aren't Spurs currently in Europe? And I'm sure they could offer much better wages. Plus don't forget his England chances will instantly improve if he signs for a London club.

You're forgetting that Liverpool are now better than both of them though HH. And have you seen either of Tottenham's first two games? They've looked woeful.

Wolves have looked fantastic though and last year they were woeful.

Spurs will have a great team assembled I they get Cahill and Parker. They will be challenging Arsenal and Liverpool for 4th. Although Liverpool no doubt are the much more likely.

I agree with HH on this one.

I don't think Cahill would join Spurs. He want's Champions League football, he won't get it there. He's more likely to wait it out with us for a year and then join a big team on a free next season rather than join Spurs this summer.

Whether it is champions league or Europa league football, it is better football than what we can offer and this that why Cahill will leave

Without the obvious reasons like living in London, earning more money and playing for a bigger club too, of course!

I think a step up to Europa is perfect for his development. Too early for hin to play champs league, bit he is definitely ready for Europa

Apparently Spurs offer was 8 million plus Bassong which we rejected.

"he is definitely ready for Europa"

He looked good enough in the Vincente Calderon all those years ago..

Cahill is too good for spurs. I look at Phil jones at utd and Cahill is as good as him if not better.

I don't agree that Spurs are "nowhere near the Champions League"

As it stands, like most I reckon the top 4 will be Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool, but I reckon Spurs can be on their coattails. At the moment it's a better move than Arsenal

"do you think Coyle is at all interested in Bassong?"

No idea. He did good with Newcastle, so there is something there.. But he does not come across as a Coyle signing..

Spurs would be a good move for Cahill. But they need to pay top dollar.. It's clear with Arsenal, Davies & Gartside are taking no rubbish with bids...

Possibly, Onouha is main target I think and Coyle has wanted him since the season ended.. Funds needed I imagine.

What's bassong like as a player?

You're definitely in the fight for 4th-6th this year, I like Spurs as they have tried to break the monopoly over the years, I hope you do it again, you certainly have the team to do it, if Parker and Cahill join that statement will be mOre truthful.

What's bassong like as a player?

Difficult to say as he never really gets a game for us - He not one of Harrys favourites. He does pop up with goals from corners though. I suppose my question should have been does Coyle have a replacement earmarked for Cahill if he does go, or will you need Bassong as a short term stop gap as a loan, or part of the deal?

I think were a bit desperate so i would imagine that if we genuinely do want him ( and its difficult to know for sure with Levy and Harry ) then we will end up paying what it is you want.

Cheers, i think alot will depend on how Adebayour does, he is unplayable on his day and can quite easily score 20 prem goals a season - if he can be bothered.

Spurs would cement Cahill's England spot most likely. Being at a good old London club etc. That's about it though. I always feel Spurs are one step behind the big boys. Not a big Rednap fan myself. But I'll take their money and run.

In premier league years this applies to every team bar Arsenal and chelsea. Even Liverpool have been 1 step (if not more) behind United for 20 odd years now. This year United/City/Chelski will be top3 without a shadow of a doubt. If we can be 1 step behind those big boys and finish 4th - Then i will snatch that with both hands.
