Wouldn't put a £28m signing from a top club in the same category as the likes of Stones and Barkley
He's still young and it's an investment. I'd still call that putting faith in youth even if a large fee is involved. Many thought stones at £4m was expensive three years ago
likes of Stones
stones didnt come from their youth set up either.
No sure of the OP has suggested that the players mentioned have come through the ranks to be fair.
For me the most logical would be Rodriguez, however Ledson and Holgate have a chance this season also
Yeah he's said youngsters not youth team.
I think it's great you're bringing these players through and I wish more clubs would rather than buying unknowns from abroad.
Yes we all have to, that's just the way things are but if there were more managers in the league like Martinez and Ranieri, a lot more British kids would get a crack.
We've got some talented players not getting a chance all over the country. Look at our team for example, half of them are from United's reserves, our youth team or the lower leagues but are all good enough to compete with the best in the PL.
Drinkwater in particluar, is bossing our midfield now. He's benefited from Cambiasso more than anyone else. He's looking a class player now he's found his feet and has improved his upper body strength but he would never have been afforded that opportunity at United and this is the problem.
The top clubs can't afford to bring players through anymore and it's a real shame.
Neverton and their massive overrated youth players
Well you know Maf, we can't all be bringing through such luminaries as Mark Noble. Maybe one day though if we're lucky......
Yep I meant young players rather than just academy ones
Spot in Arron, long term it's better to promote youth but a lot if the big clubs with plenty of £££ and fairly short managerial appointments tend to look for instant success.

Sorry, our bad, we could only bring through England's highest goalscorer. Obviously not a patch on Joe Cole or Michael Carrick.
He scored against the likes of San Marino, Gibraltar and Andorra. Terrific striker I'd say

Players at a level below the massive clubs will always get a chance, Vardy is a great example as was Lambert on what hard work can do for you.
At these clubs good youth players will always get a chance, just look at Everton, Southampton, you guys and Spurs at the moment.
Makes a big difference when you look at the last big thing to come through the ranks at West sHam, is Mark Noble something to celebrate?
Talk of break-in, Tom cleverley's house broken.

How did you break a house Maf?
Most likely Rodriguez, however I'd like to see Ledson and Henen get some games this season, even if just off the bench. Too soon for Holgate in my opinion, and as the OP said we're well covered in that area.
Not seen much of Pennington, any good?
Pennington was voted young player of the season while out on loan at Coventry last season, played really well by all accounts. They did want to loan him again but martinez apparently wants him it get experience in the championship. That was the plan for Galloway and browning too but Alcaraz and distin both leaving and only having mori as back up plus injuries meant we kept hold of them
Wether Pennington will go out on loan later in the season we shall see, playing well in the U21s though by all accounts
There is an article in the guardian about the young talent at each PL club. Neverton had none or maybe one player.
And that is relevant how exactly?
We're actually giving our youngsters a chance and in turn we are being rewarded, many a promising player at other clubs has fallen by the wayside due to a lack of faith from the manager.
You're just making yourself look like a fool once again

Tell us more about the talent at West Ham??
Reece Oxford - just from the back of my memory. and I don't claim he is worth £60mil like you lot do with Barkley
Has he many games for his national side under his belt?
No and what's the point of playing against the likes oh Gibraltar and getting injured. He's only16
Will soon be sold then
Leyton Orient or Barnet would be his level
