Did we trade first year this year and next?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah
Well swapped this year and traded next
Wow
We have our choice of Foster and Allen
Amazing.
Has to be Jonathan Allen for us now
Surely?
At least they are cheering.
Houston booed jj watt when he was picked
I'll need to go back and re watch him now.
It just kinda feels like we decided on him pre draft and haven't reacted to all these top players dropping to us.
He is super productive but not very athletic. I just worry about whether college production means much.
I might have been a bit harsh
it looks like those guys dropped due to injury

Awuzie please... then a RB.
I tell you, by the end of the 2018 draft the Brown could have a squad capable of a post season push by 2022.

It's as straightforward as it sounds.
All 32 teams pick in reverse order of their record from last year out of all of the players leaving college this year.
We go round all of the teams 7 times over the next few days. And that's pretty much it. Whoever they pick they sign for the next 4 years (5 year option for first rounders).
There is a little more to it, but it isn't that relevant (compensatory picks and such).
Teams can trade their picks and even players up to and during the draft as well. Makes it pretty fun to watch.
---------------------------
What happens in respects to agreeing contracts and money?
KLS,
Each franchise has a rookie salary cap that cannot be exceeded over a 4 year period and is essentially that "salary pool" for agreeing all new Rookie contracts. To add to the confusion there's also a year one salary rookie compensation pool.
For example, say the Packers have a $5m Year One Compensation pool and a $30m Cap, they can pay their Rookies up to $5m total combined between them in year one, so long as the total contracts of the drafter rookies don't exceed $30m across the 4 years.
The good thing about the system really is that there's almost no incentive for rookies to holdout on contracts, because there's very little wiggle room.
Also, one thing not covered above is that a team can draft a player who doesn't want to play for them because the draft isn't so much about securing the player as securing his rights to play in the NFL.
If a player then decided that he didn't want to play for the team that has drafted him, or another team were desperate to get that player, then there can be post-draft negotiation, usually involving trades of players and giving up of draft picks the following year.
So Cleveland drafted Garrett at #1. The hottest prospect in the draft. The Browns are cac and Garrett probably doesn't want to play for them. However, now that the Browns have drafted him he cannot play for anyone else so long as Cleveland own his rights to play in the NFL. It's plausible that another team could come in for him at this point, by offering the Browns one or more of their current players, and future draft picks.
It's a hussle.
Which bring me next two points...
1) what the hell did Chicago do in the First
2) didn't the steelers get the memo that TJ Watt was coming to the Packers to compliment Matthews

Wow, that really is incredible, he looked awful at times
Loving the Watson pick now. Gotta change that offense to suit him though. Dink and dunk short passes with a couple read options should help him move along. We will see how BOB adjust him into the system.
Let's trade up to get an OL
No offense guys, I love the Bengals fans on here.
But, they have set themselves up as the refuge of bawbags.
Add Mixon to that? Unsurprising for the Bengals, and that's the problem.
Ps
I'm sure he will be a great football player for you, for what that's worth
In all seriousness though, y'all have Hill and Bernard. Mixon too? RBBC all the way.
ESPN loves a good controversy. After the Washington pick, they're still harping on about Mixon
