WOOOOOOO Foreman!
Longhorn coming to Houston!
Same old for Green Bay. Steady B grade picks. No superstars but a clear strategy - speed on defense.
Still looking very thin at RB though and not sure there are any left going into the fourth who are ready to be starting.
I love that we got Pumphery
I was sad that we are going into Sproles last season before he retires, but I am psyched now to see if Pumphery can become Sproles 2.0.
His highlights video is the best I've ever seen.
really like the Eagles selections overall, even though I dont know anything about Nate Gerry tbh.
Derek Barnett isnt the most athletic guy in terms of straight line speed, but his agility, bend and dip at the edge is excellent, his hand technique is near perfect, if I was comparing to any former/current Eagle it would be Trent Cole.
Sidney Jones, before the injury he was my no1 CB, best footwork of any defensive back in the draft, excellent speed, and one of the few CB's I've seen coming out of college that won't regularly get pulled up for PI, he doesnt get grabby downfield like literally all of the others, when he gets healthy he's gonna be a multi time pro bowler.
Rasul Douglas is a pure ball hawk CB, very long, very physical, will get a lot of PI called against him early on, he gets very grabby, but he's gonna make a lot of plays, lacks real electric speed downfield but overall he will eventually fall very nicely into a solid CB2 role when Jones is healthy.
Mack Hollins is an underrated pick, probably the best gunner on special teams in all of College Football add in the fact he is 6'4 220lbs and has a 41 inch vertical leap he adds a big target for Wentz in the passing game.
Donnel Pumphrey is tiny, people have been comparing him to Darren Sproles, but Sproles is a much more powerful guy than Pumphrey who lacks leg power, he is going to be a gadget player, he'll be a change of pace RB, a slot receiver, he can make people miss as well as anyone in this years draft.
Shelton Gibson is a pure downfield threat, 4.3 speed, limited route tree in College so its probably going to be a year before we see the best of him(just in time to save 5m in cap space by cutting Torrey Smith) I really like this pick tbh, one of the picks I expect to look back on in 4 years time as an absolute steal.
Elijah Qualls is a player I had a 4th round grade on and we managed to get him at the end of the 6th round, the concerns with Qualls seem to be in terms of motor and effort on occasion, he's athletic, an excellent run stuffer and has some pass rushing ability and moves as evidenced against Utah when he was standing up as a wide DE and he dropped Garrett Bolles(the 20th overall pick) with a spin move. A bit like the Gibson pick, we might look back on this in 4 years and it'll be a steal if he wants it enough.
overall I would give the draft a solid B+ its a draft very much focused on the future, we're still rebuilding after the Chip Kelly nightmare, the guys we picked will IMO have limited effect in 2017(apart from Barnett) but I see this as a really good draft to set us up well down the road.
So what did I miss?
Any controversy or Comical moments?
Bengals do good?
Uneventful after round 1, most played it safe

Y'all got a RB who's a first round talent but video(s) of him punching the living feck out of some woman on school campus cost him whatever value that's between 1st and 2nd round pick. Heard good stuff about the Bengals though in general.

After the first day, I thought the Texans were going to go all in and try to trade up in the 2nd to get an OL/OT. Cunningham is a great pick in the 2nd. Foreman is a bruiser RB who I like a lot but maybe it's because of the Longhorn influence.
Cheers for the update fellas

I'm very worried about our o-line, especially with no draft next year
Sir Digby
Need to wait after teams make cuts in June before we start panicking. I don't think Rick Smith and the Texans staff saw any talent worth drafting in the position they were in. With the cap space, they should be big time players in the FA market.
I guess but no one's going to release a good lineman even with our capspace
Good addition to their IR
I miss when he was like the Chiefs' Defoe

You never know, there are some teams daft enough to let good o linemen walk.
Happened to us last year, we picked up a pretty elite one called Brandon Brooks.
I can't remember who it was that let him walk
Maybe you guys will get lucky this year.

I forgot there was an Eagles fan here smfh. Dammit!
Brooks
I'm still bitter over barwin
Loved it when we got Conor Barwin and Demeco Ryans from you guys
Barwin was a stud when we played 3-4, just a pity there was no space for him at 4-3.
You guys have been pretty good to us.
We have had more success taking players from Texans and Saints over the last few years than we have had drafting players.
Just as well we have 2 olbs better than barwin anyway
As do most teams at this stage in his career.
That's why he has had to suffer the indignity of signing for the Rams.
Even him in his prime I'd rather have merci and clowney
