don't kid yourself, Pep is easily the best manager on the planet
-----------------------
To be fair, managing Barcelona and Bayern to success isn't that hard. Many managers could have matched his achievements at Bayern especially. He'd fail in the PL imo.

Look I'm not saying he's not a good manager. He is, but he still has a bit to prove. He inherited a very good Barcelona team and made them better. That's a good achievement but not a miracle by any means. He then took an easy job at Bayern. I can't see where he's achieved anything that makes him better than Mourinho for example.

We have Hazard and it looks like we have banished Malouda playing in his place.

José is still a better manager than Pep even if he is having a nightmarish season so far.

Pep winning the Bundesliga with the excellent Bayern side that he inherited from Jupp Heynckes can't be considered a great achievement. There's so little real competition for the title in that league.

Also as of yet Pep is still to make much of a significant mark with Bayern in the Champions League. Right up until Pep went to Bayern they conquering all before them. Under Pep they appear to have gone back a step.

José by contrast has won titles and Champions Leagues in multiple countries.

Pep's obviously a good manager but all this best manager in the world stuff is really stretching it. Luis Enrique just won the treble with Barca, does that make him a great manager ?

What Mourinho did at Inter, for example, is astounding. They weren't fancied for the CL at all and hadn't done anything in Europe for a few seasons before he built that treble winning side.

Love statements like this, like all it takes is a couple of tweaks here and there to turn them into one of football greatest ever sides

Well he won the treble in his first season, so it can't have been a long process...
Good manager, just not the best And definitely not 'clearly the best'

Pep just used Frank Rijkaard's good work and took the credit for himself. Come on Earl this is basic stuff.

A great achievement, but playing horrible football, Pep did it playing football at a level Jose could only dream of, winning trophies is a hard achievement, winning trophies and entertaining with breathtaking football is another thing altogether.

Guardiola had better players than Mourinho though. Again, not saying what Guardiola did wasn't an achievement, but still...

So Pep having arguably the greatest player ever at his peak had nothing at all to do with his success at Barca ?

It was all down to Pep and his genius tactics. Tactics that have seen him do nothing special with Bayern in Europe so far.

I think Guardiola is a very good manager. But I just don’t see how he’s the best manager in the world. He had a great Barcelona team, but that team contained some great players and he can hardly take all the credit for their success. He then went to Bayern where he’s won the League a couple of times, but that’s not extremely hard when you consider he’s killed off the competition by buying the best players from Bayern’s only real rival. I don’t see what he’s achieved that puts him above Mourinho.

Pep has never had to face this kind of task in this kind of league with major competition domestically from multiple teams with far more limited resources and a squad including Mikel.

Pep's ok, nowt special, Messi was the main reason barca had a little bit of success, then he went to bayern where its impossible to fail

Happy now?

"Pep's ok, nowt special"

ok then put it this way, has any of Jose's sides ever got anywhere near the level of that Barca side and the amount of trophies and accolades they won?

Think you've gone a bit too much to the other extreme, but yeah that's better

Has Jose ever had Messi, Iniesta and Xavi? Has Guardiola's Bayern achieved anywhere near the level of the Barca side without those three?
Again, not saying he's not a very good manager. But he was a very good manager with a great team. He can't take all the credit for what Barcelona achieved (although he does obviously deserve a lot of credit).
