Definitely right to give Gardner a run and i would personally shove in Kozak too if hes fit .. 4-4-2 is the formation never used as much these days but in grealish and Sinclair/Gil we have out and out wingers so it should work ...

Agree with you except Kozak instead of Gestede.
The other thing I wondered about was Gil instead of Grealish. Not sure whether Grealish would relish this opportunity to shine or whether he's in a flat spell.

Gil was an improvement on Grealish when he replaced him against Swansea.
We need a boost, but I really can't see anything from this although this Cup always does throw up surprises due to the apathy applied by most teams in the PL especially.
Have tried to get tickets this week and sold out away, thats great support considering the distance and the poor state we are in.

Absolute garbage of a starting line-up. It doesn't matter who's in charge of Villa, whoever is managing never seems to pick the strongest line-up. Bacuna, Westwood and Richardson all starting again, as is Gestede who will do nothing. Ayew, Grealish, Richards, Traore, Okore and Veretout all not playing. The latter three must be thinking when the hell are they going to be given a chance.
I can only hope the MacDonald has selected such a weak team as he is saving those mentioned players for Spurs, but most likely it's because no one at Villa seems to have a clue.
Very strange. Our most promising scorers on the bench. I take it that the hope is to counter-attack through Gabby's pace or getting the wingers getting crosses into Gestede. Might work I suppose but not optimistic.
An opportunity missed. Veretout and Okore in particular need game time.
We're obviously going there to defend and catch them on the break. Two defensive midfielders and Bacuna and Richardson playing wide, getting the ball forward for Gabby to chase or long ball on to Gestede's head.
Hope I'm wrong, but I fear the worst.
2-1. Pretty poor. I hope Ayew, Grealish and Sinclair coming on in the second half means they were getting practice for Monday night.
