I think we've learnt our lesson when it comes to re-signing old players. Flood is probably the only time in recent history where it's worked out well and even then he stabbed us in the back again.
I don't think we should re-write history; Gardyne wasn't good for us. He didn't fit into the team and was in a position where we had more than adequate cover. I think he's one of those players who has just found his comfort zone - the only club he'll ever perform at is Ross County.
McGowan is arguably our best player and his natural position is right-back, I don't want him moved from there. Watson looked finished at the top level last season and even Hibs didn't want to keep him. Webster's best playing days are behind him too - released from a League One club and playing for a poor St. Mirren side. He probably wouldn't be worse than Durnan but I don't think he'd be the answer. I think the biggest thing we're missing at the moment is pace. Absolutely no-one to break forward from midfield and take somebody on.
It's really difficult to assess the players we have now as they're clearly all so unfit and don't have a clue what they should be doing on the pitch. The likes of Bodul and Durnan could actually turn out to be good players with a bit of coaching.
Former players!
