Agree with SLM actually. It isn't good enough. We need a trophy and should have gone for it with a stronger lineup. City have played strong teams and most likely with add another trophy to their recent haul.
It's not just tonight for me but our improvement is slow, like 3rd will represent a good season or something. The mentality seems to be that. BS and Martial the calibre needed at the very least. Memphis a huge disappointment so far
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the line up was ok to get a result against Boro. Its the slow, methodical, laboured passing which does us. More often than not its no risk, insipid football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't agree.. Lingard, Pereira and Wilson all starting not so sure about that, though I thought the first two did quite well. Wilson needs a loan move to a championship side which seems to have improved Lingard

CL might be just 3 places next year too
No, it would be the season after rb&w.
We will get CL this season playing with our eyes closed
------------
That's not enough though right? We should be challenging for the title. I know we're not far off top right now but I can't see us staying that close on current form.
Having said that, people say we've not played well for a long time - I'd love to see how far ahead we'd be if we actually played well for a few months!
GTWI4T no its just we can't finish. Those are the games we create the most chances, against teams that sit back.

I know he's been bad this season, and for a fair chunk of last as well. What I'm saying is the way lvg sets you up and plays him, I'm not surprised. I doubt he's particularly enjoying it either.

Exactly.
Players who express themselves LvG gets rid off.
Fecking shambles losing to a champ side given how much wince spent

Pereira and Lingard have shown enough that they should be ahead of Depay in pecking order, i dare say Pereira could even play on the left so we play Martial up top and give Rooney a sit on the bench.

I jus didn't understand why get rid of Hernandez. He barely got a chance under LVG.

Yes it is. I don't think we will win the league for a while or any major competitions. Could take years. At this stage, I just want us to build a young squad with talent and get top 4/top 3. We are not winning nothing for a few years, regardless of the manager. Too much competition and there are clubs with as much money as us as well. We are not the Bayern of the PL and simply are just are another top side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At our rate of recent spending LvG would have spent £0.5bn BILLION by next summer and you're talking about building a squad?
We will never spank a team under LVG. IT's slow, controlled, methodical football.
For instance we never come flying out the blocks first 20 mins. We stay in the game and try and grind teams down by making them do the running but even that isn't fast enough.
Southampton game was the perfect example...we could and should have been 3-0 down because we were so atrocious in the first 20+ mins of that game. Somehow we got back in it and got lucky.
Think we were lucky we faced a City side too without Silva and Aguero. We are 3 top players short of really competing IMO.
Martial looks a great buy thus far but what an enormous gamble as Rooney is crap now and Wilson nowhere near ready. Memphis struggling to adapt.
We got the smallest squad in decades.

So where has the money gone?
Under LVG a trademark is to fly out the blocks in 1st 20 minutes. Newcastle Utd home Tottenham away and home last season, west ham utd home. Newcastle Utd away last season.

SLM we haven't spent much. We should have bought 2 more strikers, 2 more defenders.
