SLM we haven't spent much. We should have bought 2 more strikers, 2 more defenders.

Wait. What? So what constitutes "much" to you?????

This really is a pathetic article. We lost in the COC. This is what happens at times especially with a changed squad. We actually played some good stuff and the youngsters did well.

We spent money, what about the players that moved on?

This really is a stupid article. Fergie got beaten at OT by Leeds and Coventry as well.

We lost today because we did not bury the chances we created which were very good ones. Fellaini missed a few as did Lingard and Memphis and Martial.

These things happen, I was quite pleased with the performances of Perreira and Lingard.

Really, this is quite a stupid article and I am being polite

My concern since day 1 with LVG has been that it seems a big ask to take us from where Moyes left us to truly competing for the prem title and European cup again in just 3 years.

Whilst the cup has made a good go of it by backing him with funds,im not sure those fund have been spent as well as they could have been.

The concern remains that we don't win anything under LVG and the new man inherits someone else's expensively assembled squad and a philosophy that may not match his own.

Thanks Hafi.

Nice to see our former academy lads do well, even if it's just fleetingly.

1. Early days yet, but you do seem to be in the thick of the title race. May not seem that way in the CL yet, but there are similarities in both cases, in that it's all about staying in touch in the first half of the season and then hitting your best form from more or less Feb onwards. CL seems a big ask this season, but Bayern seem to be the only side so far who've got their sh·it together and we've seen that even they can be vulnerable.

2. Funds are never as well spent as they could be, that's true of any top club in any era. There will always be players who fail to adapt. I like that the club showed decisiveness and preferred to cut their losses on Di María rather than sit on a depreciating asset.

3. That's entirely out of LvG's hands. It's up to the club to ensure continuity by bringing in a manager with a similar approach ("philosophy" and avoid any major upheaval.

Imho, the main issue with vG is that he has not got the side playing the sort of football the fans want to see. It weakens his position, as there is likely to be less patience if the results stop coming.

I still think that United are well capable of playing much more expansive football because LvG's sides have done so in the past, but perhaps he needs to loosen the shackles a bit, or the players need to believe more in themselves and be willing to take more risks. From what I've heard/read, that seems to be what Martial's beeing doing, and vG doesn't seem to have too much of a problem with it.
