Yep I can see that logic cdub, but Albrighton and Ulloa are perfect in the sense that Ulloa needs quality balls into the box. Dyer doesn't really do that and I expect him to come on when Albrighton tires

Would pace be any use as they'll likely go defensive?

Actually, I should elaborate regarding Okazaki: I would have planned Fuchs LB, Schlupp LW and Mahrez in the middle with Dyer RW. With Fuchs out there's a reshuffle, but I still would have given Okazaki the place over Ulloa because I think West Brom would be more scared of Okazaki's pace over Ulloa's height, at least early on.

Dunge, west Brom can deal with pace all day long just like Bournemouth did against us.

They will double up on mahrez and press drinkwater to stop the ball getting out wide. We didn't have an answer against Bournemouth. If we play their game and put balls in the box then it could be more effective

Exactly TB

TB: I'd be looking to run at them in the box and catch them on the counter, precisely because once they get into position they'll be very difficult to break down and I believe they'll do a job on Ulloa.

And BS, I'd also like to see Albrighton and Ulloa on the pitch at the same time for once. That's why I'd have started them both on the bench to bring on later on.

Okazaki just hasn't done enough Dunge. At the moment it's pace with no end product, no assists, no real key passes, certainly no goals.

He presses and works hard but west brom would comfortably deal with it.

What they don't like is a physical target man and quality balls going into the box. They want stifle the midfield and hit on the break

Still, 352 seems to work against any team

Dunge you won't catch west brom on the counter, they leave no space behind them. They are the one of the tightest defences in the league....

I don't believe we can out-West Brom West Brom. It's like arguing with an idiot - they'll just drag you down to their level and then beat you for experience.

It's 12:22am and you beat me to it Dunge 😂

Ha ha I had a feeling Ulloa would play and ive been dreaming of seeing Albrighton whipping them in for Ulloa. Happy about this 😊

Dunge for the amount of times a centre half comes off, it's worth the gamble not having one on the bench. Have we replaced a centre half yet this season?

I'm not saying you out West Brom, but if they can deal with pace and they nullify drinkwater and mahrez, then you need a plan B.

That Plan B is Albrighton and Ulloa.

If you watched the Bournemouth match, they did exactly that and we had no plan B

How many teams have tried to beat Pulis with passing and quick pace? He has got results against all the top sides by nullifying their strengths.

He will do exactly the same to us and we need an alternative.

arro - You could make the same argument about goalkeepers but people would be going nuts if we didn't have one of those on the bench. Or at least they should be!

BS - Absolutely agree with having a plan B. That's why I'd have them on the bench to change things up part way through if needed.

Yeah, glad to see Ulloa in. Definitely missed him on Tuesday. Dyer makes a good impact sub whether we're winning or not.

That defence worries me some what though...

BS - We have quick pace, but remember we play with low possession so passing isn't our game! Instead of pushing and pushing at them, I'd rather draw them out and hit them on the break. If they don't come out, it's their fans they'll be boring.

Oh dear Chelsea

I dunno Dunge, we'd be as well sticking Ulloa in goal rather than Schwarzer, he's a waste of a spot. RDL can cover of necessary and do a job against West Brom, I'm sure Ranieri feels confident that they're not that much of a threat.

CDUBYA - It's at times like this that I think we should see more pictures of Diego Costa and the way the smug smile has been wiped off his horrible face.

No plan survives first contact with the enemy. Pulis will not let the back four out of thier half and we will be the ones pushing forward.
Albrighton won't last 90 so Schlupp will go LW and Chilwell will go LB. RDL covers the CH position imo.

Don't be surprised if there are no goals this match.

I will be very surprised if there aren't goals. We will break down their defence and like I've said, they haven't kept a clean sheet against anyone decent yet. Eleven in four against teams that can score. We will score if they invite us on to them, we'll break them down like we have done everyone else.

No team has counter attacked west brom this season Dunge. They sit back, defend deep, press you and hit you on the break or with a set piece.

if we sit back, they won't leave space in behind them to hit them on the break. It ain't gonna happen under Pulis, when west brom do come forward they will do so with plenty of cover behind.

That means if we defend deep we will be putting ourself under pressure with no space behind to hit them on the break. Did you see the Bournemouth game? Exactly the same

posted on 31/10/15

Therefore we need to match them physically in the midfield (Kante may struggle), use the width to get balls to a target man - Ulloa because pace won't cut through them

The thing is, it's also what Palace did last week. We were patient, kept it tight and eventually got our reward. I don't think there will be many goals or chances in this, and I can't see us getting our chances from crosses.

posted on 31/10/15

It will be our relentless pressure that will break them down. They won't leave any gaps because they won't attack for fear of leaving gaps. They won't be trying to win.
