Klopp's Midfield

My issue with our midfield is that they don't score or create enough goals. Milner, Lucas and Henderson's work-rates are unquestionable. I'm not sure where Can fits in yet. He hasn't played enough games in CM to show anyone the type of midfielder he is. He seems to want to do everything - tackle, close down, pass, shoot, get forward. I'm not sure he even know himself. I think it will be up to Klopp to get a role nailed down for him in the side over the coming months.

Lucas has a new lease of life under Klopp and Henderson was starting to impose himself in games before his injury. Im not sure Milner fits into the team when Henderson comes back. He's too safe for me. I think he works hard but that's all he offers in my eyes. We have workers as I mentioned above.

I think Klopp needs to sign a top DM and an out and out winger. Im not sure that any ready-made DMs will join us without Champions League football so it will be up to the manager to use his knowlege of Germany and unearth a diamond in the rough from the Bundesleague.

Just my thoughts on the matter

Playing Coutinho and Lallana so close makes us weak down the left side

Ronnie Whelan was twice the player Milner and Hendo are.

Kennys Henderson was up near the top of the assists charts last season he does contribute goals to us, agree the rest of our midfield don't do enough in that matter.

Maybe I overrate Henderson but I think he's great and growing into a complete midfielder, when fit he's the first name on the team sheet for me along with Sakho.

I think Henderson comes straight back in beside Lucas with can third choice then milner or one of the young lads as fourth choice.

Henderson does more then just run around he's got a good passing range, can break beyond midfield to get into goal scoring positions. His energy is probably his stand out attribute and should work really well in Klopps set up but he's good on the ball too and getting better.

Agree though come the summer we need to invest in a deep lying midfielder though to get better quality in there, I love Pjanic he's be a great buy

He sure was, he's one of the main reasons I support liverpool, remember that league cup final goal v United when his first shot was blocked and he just hammered it in at the second attempt!!! What a goal

I don't buy Tbones thought that hendo lacks composure. he's grown so much as a midfielder recently. Can't wait to see what he can do under klopp. Could really take him to the next level.

I do agree that Henderson is getting better and will hopefully turn into a top CM. I just feel that we've never really had a CM apart from Stevie G that could contribute 10+ goals a season from midfield.

I suppose the answer to lack of goals from midfield would be if our advanced players chipped in more. Said in a previous article that I felt that Lallana wasn't capable of scoring the amount of goals required for a player in his role.

Maybe I'm being harsh on the team and hopefully with a new manager and some wins under the belt our squad's confidence will grow. But at the minute, I look through our starting 11 and wonder where the goals will come from other that Benteke and Coutinho.

To do describe Henderson as a hard working headless chicken is just plain clueless.

Blasych...Kuba played wide right for Klopp but often came infield when out of possession to help the centre. Kinda like what Milner is doing atm.

Maybe the whole midfield dynamic will change when he's back.

With him and Sturridge due back in training around the same time, I can see quite a few changes happening.

Yeah, the amount of chances he has created in the last year show that. He needs to add more goals but his range of passing and influence in the final third is there for all to see.

Im not Milners biggest fan as you all know from match threads, but on there im probably a bit harsh. Anyway hes out most creative player this season, I think he has the most assists most key passes in the team. Frustrates the hell put of me with his 50% pass completion, but hes not the only one sloppy in possession this season, only sakho comes out with any credit here for me.

As for Hendo hes devloped and is still developing into a solid midfielder, still a bit inconsistent on the scoring/creative side maybe, hopefully he will go up another level under Klopp.

We have missed Henderson a lot, he has become massive part of this team. The last 18 months he has been regularly creating goals and has scored a few as well. Our other centre midfield options aren't offering enough in this area at the moment. He has pace and energy which our midfield has been lacking. Should be back for the City game I hope.

But other than that. Loads of players have been solid in possession for us under Klopp. Lucas, Can, Milner, Lallana and Firmino have all been good in possession for us.

The players looked petrified of receiving the ball under Rodgers over the past year. hat's already evident is that Klopp has taken the fear out of the players. I was watching the Chelsea match thinking to myself, these players are taking the ball into feet under pressure and they're starting to look for a forward pass too.

I said it about both not just one. at the start of the season when they played together they ran around like headless chickens with feck all composure. If that statement is clueless then you must have been watching a different team to me as we were horse shhiiite.

What's ridiculous??

Are you actually saying they didn't run around like headless chickens at the start of the season.

Even when Klopp took over he was shouting many times in the first 2 games at Milner to calm down and be more composed.

Are your memories that poor????

Anyone else remember the start of the season or has everyone got their Klopp blinkers on and can't remember that long ago???

They can both press really well, so they're not running around headless anyway, it has a purpose and it works well. Hendo has an assist and hes only played 140minutes in a struggling side. Milner averages 2.5 key passes a game 2.5x more then lallana coutinho and firmino have been doing. Just examples.
