In theory it should have been easy.

bordeaux away was the first game, shortest away trip, we should have played the first team, they were doing poorly in their own league at the time and in bad form. That was our game to lose, which we essentially did by playing a second team.

We then had Sion at home, where Rodgers again decided to field a weakened team, which blew the defenders of his bordeaux selections out the water, as the travelling excuse no longer made sense.

We then had kazan at home in Klopps second game in charge, he had barely had time to train with the players and they still looked confused. we really should have done better with the man advantage.

Ideally we would have won all our home games, sent the fringe players for all our away games to prioritise the league over long journeys. perhaps sending the 1st team to bordeaux (2 hour trip?) just to show we mean business and give us a cushion.


Rodgers contempt for the competition is what has caused our situation, and considering his head was on the line at the time it made it even more bizzarre...
