He's a very good defender who is getting better. He'd be a great addition to any squad.

He would be ahead of Mertersacker. U can see hes gonna be top class like Stones. We almost got him as well as Van Fool wanted Vermaelen but for some daft reason Wenger didnt want to give a little cash to United.

On a seperate note why arent we in for Stones? he would be a perfect Mert replacement and we can afford him.

Smalling will probably be ahead of Papy in the pecking order

not doubting that he is improving. But they say he would get into any team in the world

Maybe it was just "political" rather than cash issue. I'm not sure it would have gone down well if we had sold both of our recent captain to United.

I rate him, I think he's generally underrated by non United fans. No he's not in the very top bracket but he's been steadily improving for a while now.

I would actually play him up front instead of Costa at the moment.
