SWOS - had such pedigree an became the ultimate football game
Super Mario World - took all that came before and just made it even better, the best platformer ever imo
Tomb Raider (reboot) - lots of hype coming into it but for me goty, so much fun and i just wanted to play it
Timesplitters 2
San Andreas
Mario Kart Double Dash
Red Dead Redemption
Mass Effect 2
Borderlands 2
Halo 3
Wait are you talking big games like as in before theyre released? Or big games because you heard about them from friends or whatever?

That what i was thinking as portal certainly wasnt hyped up before being released as part of the orange box
the person that said goldeneye is lying that game is repetitive and u prob have no friends in real life so no 4 player
awwwww
FarCry4 came with a lot of hype on the back of how successful 3 was, and to be fair I really loved it (still am loving it, I'm a slow gamer!).
Mario Kart/Zelda/Super Mario always live up to the hype and are always really good games (I still play the originals today)
Any of the Borderlands series (bar tales, I haven't played that yet) I've got it for PC and PS3 and play them constantly.
Minecraft - Still don't understand how addictive this game is, it's lego in game form using one block at a time. Me and the missus have wasted days on it (and still aren't as good as the kids)
Star Wars Battlefront I and II, love the single player missions and play these all the times (jsut got my lad into II) not interested in III due to the lack of single player mode but this was the one that could have made me get a PS4
For games hyped up by friends/forums etc
Beyond Good and Evil - Was talked about on the old teletext zine for ages (and retro magazine I think) and when I finally got it, blew me away. Another game I still play on and off.
Red Dead Redemption - Read about it on here and elsewhere but took me a while to get into it, once I did though played it constantly and unlocked everything. Haven't played the Zombie version yet, but thats next.
Grand Theft Auto III and San Andreas, III was a massive leap from 1 and 2 and fit perfectly (although the lack of an auto aim kills it for me today) and S.A was just so big that I still haven't completed it but still play it every once in a while.
My two favourite games of all time Red Dead Redemption and Resident Evil 4 both arrived hyped up and both were bloody brilliant.
The original Killzone on PS2 had a huge lead in time with monthly reports etc and was also very good - shame the series couldn't sustain it.
RtM - Both. Either big games that had a lot of hype from media/advertising (such as Fallout 4) or games that have been hyped up through the years and still hold up (Portal).

COD MW2. Rest have been crap since.
Timesplitters is one of my all time favourite games. In fact, I might look around and see if I can pick up a copy of it.
Portal 2 I feel certainly lived up to the hype generated by the initial Portal.
Star Wars Knights of the old Republic was and still is fantastic, haven't finished II yet so no idea on that one.
Mariokart (SNES)
Baldurs Gate
GTA Vice City and San Andreas
Goldeneye
RDR
Witcher 3
Zelda on the N64 (both games)
Just a few off the top of my head.
Also Cannon Fodder on the Amiga, that was a brilliant game

Take your time
Loved #1, but #2 really was brilliant.

Got a load of Star Wars games on the PC a while back on the Humble Bundle deal with both of these in it. I must admit I haven't actually played them yet but did manage to get them working on Win 7 which isn't bad
That's where I got mine ROM. I did start KOTOR II but had the big patch installed, was then advised to play it first without and then with so you can see the difference.
