but don if he is so good why is he getting so much bench time
paying 20+ mill for berahino is madness i think. at the end of the day, will back poch and levy though
Chronic,
but don if he is so good why is he getting so much bench time
=======================
You will have to ask Pulis that but it wouldnt be the first time a top player has been benched by the manager.
Even players who have won POTY (like Mata) are benched without reason.
I think Berahino would be the perfect addition - the missing piece in the puzzle.
Chicken hit the nail on the head there chronic. Players like Juan mata have spent plenty of time on the bench. Does that mean he's a bad player? What about Dembele for us? Pretty much been a bit part player for the best part of a year before his recent excellent form. Im not saying berahino is worth 25 mil because he's not but he really would be the perfect striker we could get. Young, pacey, British and talented.

I wouldn't pay any attention to that - that rates Kane at just £17.5m.
Not sure if that site is accurate Ledley. It has berahino as being sub only once this season when clearly that's a load of sh**
12 times named in the squad
8 times a starter
3 times subbed on
1 unused sub
Not difficult to comprehend.
Right so 4 not starting. So you can take that 4 away from your 80 game stat. We can go back other years to if you would like? Especially the season before last. You will then find his goal scoring record ain't actually to bad and certainly not "average" as you put it
The season before last he only started in 11 games judging by that link you posted. So basically posting a link that shows the whole 22 goals in 80 games to be rather distorted and not a true reflection of his goal scoring ability. Cheers Ledley
Lets face facts, we are not going to sign the league's best striker for the kind of money we can put up, so all in all £25m (assuming thats what it would take) is actually good business all things considered.
Go get him Poch/Levy .
Exactly chicken. We don't usually agree on much but I will have your back on this one. Berahino all the way for me.
Why should I take the 4 games he didn't start off the 80? Those 80 games are appearances for West Brom, not starts. Besides if Berahino is "quality" as you've described him before in recent months, what's he doing on the West Brom bench a lot as you've earlier claimed?
You claimed he's on the bench a lot, I showed you he's not. So you claim the stats are false.
Yet you call me simple?
Look at the season before last Ledley. 20 odd games as a substitute. So your 80 game stat is distorted. No true reflection on his goal scoring ability. If your going to post something maybe you should look at the full thing because it's just made your argument look poor as part of that 80 game ratio is atleast a quarter of sub appearances
This is mine and chickens point. 80 appearances a need to be looked at as in subs. It's easy for you to turn around and say " don he's average as he only has 22 goals in 80 games" but completely ignoring the fact that a quarter of those 80 games are him on the bench. Meaning that 22 goal stat don't actually look to bad
No it's not distorted because at no point did I claim or try to pretend they were all starts. If your limited mind automatically interprets 80 games as 80 starts then that's your issue, not mine.
If berahino comes on with 20 mins to go then that counts as an appearance. Considering he did this in a lot of the 13/14 season then the 80 game stat isn't really a true reflection. Pretty simple mate.
No Ledley but you were claiming yesterday berahino is average and you told me 22 goals in 80 games show that. I'm telling you those stats are not a true reflection due to atleast a quarter of those games berahino come on as a sub
I'm not too fussed about the number of appearances sub or not a sub, i just like the way he plays, i think he represents good value for money and will compliment us as team / squad. And in this day and age, £25m isn't ridiculously OTT.
32 starts last season, 14 goals and 1 assist. 7 of those goals were before November.
Average.
14 in 32 is certainly not average. It may not be Ronaldo-esq but it is a fair return.
How is 14 in 32 starts average? The guy is 21 ffs!!! It's a decent stat actually
Quite a few penalties in there too. Wasn't it 9 from open play? He wont take pens for us, and won't start up top either. How many goals would we expect from him?
Does it not ring alarm bells he can't get himself right to start for West Brom? He is that fragile. Compared to Stones h
As has been said, Mata didn't get in Chelsea's side - neither could kdb.
And why is it fans disregard penalties when they feel like it. No-one has ever taken pens stats off of Kane. No-one refers to Shearer's record minus the pens, Lineker's or anyone's.
And I don't see why he wouldn't be on pens for Spurs. If Kane misses 1 or 2 the pen taker could easily change. I don't even rate Kane as a pen taker anyway.
What do you think he would bring to the side? Strengths ?
Where would he play? Realistically not in a 442 dreamland
Convince me 20-25m would be well spent
Taking pens off because with them his PL record is not great at all, and without them it's much worse.
We need a goalscoring CF and he simply doesn't score that many from open play
