The Utd average is 23. Sorry for being pedantic, but your average there is wrong

Yes you're right
22.9 to be precise!

i think you made a mistake, united's average age was 23 unless I am mistaken.

...............

You are not mistaken.

Yeah, the average age of the United team you put up is exactly 23.

Manchester united, at an average of 23 have the youngest lineup out of those teams. Only reason I know this is because of some of the matchday talk after United thrashed Arsenal, who are generally thought to have the best young players.

As for Liverpool, when Gerrard comes back the avg. age will get higher slightly. Of course having a world class 18/19 year old would make us better but who did you have in mind?

If I was Kenny, I would think twice about brining Gerrard back.

To me, Liverpool look a far better team without him.

What about youth? Does City bring through players or just buy them once they have hit their prime

------------------------------

I have to admire United in this respect. The further down the league (any league) a club plays, the easier it is to bring youth players through. Simply put, the further down you go, the less the quality of the youth player has to be to break through.

United - a club right at the top of the pile, produce (and also sign (and then develop)) young players who have proven, time and again, that they can hack it at the level that United play at. So total respect to them for that. In terms of City, a lot has been invested into the development of youth at the club since the owners took over, but it will be a few years yet before we see whether that pays off or not. City had to build a squad that could compete now (hence why so many established players have been signed). The youth at United however has had time to develop while being surrounded by top class facilities, staff, and indeed players. This makes me question Chelsea's development - they have had (getting close to) a decade of CL football, yet the players that have come through the academy and made the grade are few and far between.

And coincidently (or not), Chelsea have the highest average age out of all the teams you mention. Go figure.

Take out Carragher for Coates, and put in Carroll for Kuyt and our average age becomes 23.7.

By the way, why only 10 players for Liverpool? Add in Adam and it goes to 23.9 including the above additions.

Why doesn't Chelsea include Cech,Mata,Sturridge and Alex?
Is it because that would reduce the age significantly?

CPofL.

Its because he is basing it on the last starting 11 (apart from LFC who only seem to have 10).

Because its based on their last starting line up like the OP says in his opening sentence.

THE ERRORS MENTIONED HAVE BEEN CHANGED.

Is anyone onto the fact that approx 0.5 years need to be added on to the average age?

For example, Rooney is nearly 26, so naturally the average age should be calculated using ages to 1 significant figure.

All things being equal, the players ages should average out as being 6 months older than their digital age.

I honestly see nothing about henderson that makes him good, when gerrard comes back you should out him in for henderson as he is a far superior player. Henderson may well come good but right now a midfield of him and adam makes me wonder what kenny was thinking, adams only a bit better than henderson imo.

Utter rubbish.

Are you telling me that Gerrard was rubbish last season just because of the manager?

Not just because of the manager, but he was a huge part in it.

It was remarkable how much players improved after KK took charge.
