Have to say though that it does seem as though they could have just had six episodes of vadar and OB1 dueling and folks would have loved it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
damn right they would, cos it would have then masked the simply awful writing. And it has been exactly that, lets not beat about the bush the idiocy of writing for OB1 is just atrocious.

Even this episode is fulled of incredibly big idiocy moments.

For me without the pay off in the this last episode again the writing is shocking and would have been 4/10 at a push.

when we are allowed spoilers i will get into it

I think he has, but it’s a time zone thing innit.

Fk it I’m getting stuck in.

Much better pacing, better action, loved the fighting and Ewan’s performance was exemplary.

The fighting was obviously the best thing. However, I didn’t like the way it ended. Obi-Wan would have killed Vader at the end but clearly he couldn’t due to continuity factors. He therefore should have been fought off by the inquisitors etc and had to run away. There’s no way he would just walk off like that again…..

ok so episode breakdown. the writing and flow is a mess.

the fight is fecking bada$$ as hell, yes it had darth once again assume his enemy is dead, yes it stole a scene from rebels. However the rest of it is as good a sabre battle as there has been in SW, not as flashy as the D. Maul fight but just as good IMO.

To start off the wee ship they have has no hyperdrive, so how long has the destroyer been chasing it... why no tie fighters, Vader "Increase firepower", why not just ram them. so so stupid.

Ice cube "we cant fix the engine" , 2 mins later OB1 " i will lead Vader to the planet" Ice Cube "iv fixed the engine" wtf??!

so OB1 goes to the planet, so Darth follows but so does the destroyer?!?! why not just head after the other ship?

the fight scene.... amazing, outstanding epicness, OB1 is a fecking boss. can dismiss the whole all his powers are back etc.. cos its amazing. Darth performs the ground slam , traps OB1 and before he throws the rocks down he had the perfect chance to quote OB1 "Now I have the high ground OB1" lied perfectly up for it and he doesnt say it .... gutted !!

then just leaves OB1 for dead AGAIN, stupid stupid stupid. fight then goes on again....OB1 fully realising he is back ,,, defo downed some spinach under they rocks and proceeds so slap Vader about. slightly ruined with the throwing of the rocks scene which again was dumb as hell....1/4 ton rocks bouncing off vader like polystyrene ?!?! oh dear....

the rebels scene of slicing through the helmet is first class, the reflection of the sabre's .... the voice moving between Earl Jones and Hayden. All epic !!

so OB1 then leaves the planet in his ship (yes it turns out that in previous episode they didnt just have on ship as a decoy but they also had a spare ship inside this (which has a huge plot hole!!) so thye had three ships .... when they said they couldnt fit on Leia and OB1 in ep 5.

but OB1 is fine to leave the planet (where is the destroyer) and wait for it ........ wait for it ...... engages Hyperdrive. So this ship had hyperdrive all along..... the other ship trundling for ages, being chased by a destroyer and they had another ship that could easily take OB1 and Leia. seriously .... when he pulled that hyperdrive switch I just face palmed.

so we then switch to the main story, sorry side story of Reva. So Disney wants us to like her so badly, she now confronts bullies !! how she got to the planet before everyone else is impressive and to do it with a bloody hole in her gut is just wow.. wow!

she fights owen and his wife, cant kill luke, returns him.

then we get the ending for Reva again its just so badly written. I can get she couldnt kill Luke , even though she has already killed countless amount of people.
but the whole OB1 forgiving her and utters a line that is just so bad. Now Reva has went through the galaxy slaghtering innocent people, killing jedi's killing townsfolk hanging them in the street, wanting to massacre a whole town only to be ordered not to. this Reva .... well she explains to OB1 that she couldnt do it, she asks for forgiveness ... and all because she didnt kill Luke and turned against Vader OB1 says something like she "honoured the younglings" WTF ...... seriously .... wow , wow wow !!!

OB1 should have swung there and then and that will the end of it.

Queue cool end scene with Palpatine and Vader, cue cool scene with Qui Gon, but not before Leai gets the longest ending out the lot of them ... cos u know its her story. And she is told not to mention a word so thats that then !!

So Leia is a child protegy, super smart, super witty, super brave. And Luke is stupid wee clueless boy. Cheers Disney!!!

Great points made guys.
Having had time to digest, the cynical me is now coming out to play.
Bail: ‘I don’t know how I could ever repay you’
Er, what’s your name, Bail Organa Glazer!? You tight wad, hook OB1 with some credits innit at least.
The man’s going back to the desert!!

Where the bloody hell are the Tie Fighters!! And, the Falcon, fastest ship around, barely escape them in a New Hope, but suddenly we are subjected to Last Jedi 2.0
‘Increase fire power’?! What?!
Kenobi, Jesus Christ man, what is with the walking away. Initially the line Vader makes I thought, is he taking the guilt away from Kenobi, but then you can see Vader smile. He actually likes the idea that he killed Anakin.
You have the opportunity to end Vader, and you walked.

The liberties taken with jumping time in this Ep is criminal. Reva just popping up, like, how much time has passed? Nobody dies anymore from a Saber strike!!?

She had to die, I don’t understand her redemption.

What happened to 5th Brother?! On holiday leave with the Tie Fighter pilots?!!

And to intercut, the Vader/Kenobi battle, with a pointless No stakes sequence with Reva vs Owen/Beru.
So suddenly she doesn’t know how to use the force?

To be continued….

I can handle OB1 not being able to kill him. I dont think he could ever had been able to do that.

He couldnt as Annakin, he couldnt (or wouldnt) fight him in new hope. its not ideal but I can handle that.

I’m going to kick off with the positives because actually, I thought there were plenty.

Firstly the lightsaber battle. That was arguably the best live action lightsaber battle in Star Wars, certainly up there with the end of RotS. Ewan McGregor is a fecking master at this and some of the moves (particularly liked the behind back hand switch) were absolutely great. This battle needed to absolutely ‘bring it’ to authentically have OB1 overcome Vader given how strong they’d made him in this series and I thought it absolutely delivered.

I loved the OB1 character from the prequels (RotS in particular) but I’m also a huge fan of OB1 in The Clones Wars; what we saw in episode 6, the battle in particular, reminded me of Clone Wars OB1.

I thought some of the scenes were absolutely beautiful. It felt cinematic is a way that has been missing for much of the series.

Enjoyed the little tie up moment of Anakin essentially saying this was always in him, he did this. And OB1 referring to him as “Darth” - nice nod to ANH.

And I know this was playing to the crowd, I know it. But I loved it anyway - “hello there”. The cameos of Palp and QGJ weren’t necessary but were quite nice.

The Reva plot line had a disappointing ending imo. I know she’s an unpopular character but I didn’t mind the arch of the angry youngling who hadn’t fully turned, she just wanted revenge for her friends who died. But the full redemption thing was a bit too easy. I get the parallels they’re drawing - Anakin willingly gave himself to the dark side but Reva couldn’t quite do it. But it leaves too much open - she knows about the children. I would have preferred something similar to the Rebels scene when Maul found OB1 - a soft and kind final scene for her but ultimately she dies.

The continuity error with Leia was never really resolved but I think we all probably realised it wasn’t going to be by about episode 4. That said, I thought it was a nice conclusion and verbalised OB1 drawing a line of distinction between the “exceptional” person he knew as Anakin and the dark outcome he’d accepted as Darth.

I’m sure people will pick holes in it. And they’ll mostly be valid. But ultimately that was the most fun I’ve had watching 45 mins of TV in quite some time.

So, sure, they got me in the feels with that last Ep. Everything was better, technically, although, I do hate the shaky cam.
Someone needs to explain the production choices made here. Makes no sense.

Overall, I give this show a 6 at best, most probably change for the worse over time. Still prefer it to Book of Bona, although, having Cad Bane was a highlight.

But, it really is a sad time to be a Star Wars fan.
Fans are constantly having to fill the holes, and get into it with fellow fans, and it’s tiring.
We shouldn’t have to be doing all this legwork to make it make sense.

I mean Kenobi tells Leia, don’t say anything cos we could get in trouble. I don’t care, she still doesn’t react.
Why? Cos she didn’t know who he was, and this piece of retconning doesn’t work.
And why are you letting Reva go about her business, she knows everything. Suppose she flips again?
Would’ve helped if you know, you killed her.

I think all my pros and cons have been covered by the previous posts

Ok positives..
Ewan is great. Genius casting. That’s on Lucas.
Hayden did great too.
The Reva story is intriguing, but why have it as prominent to Obi-Wans. Have an Inquisitor show, and the battle amongst them to impress the powers that be.

Some of the Star Wars imagery was great.
But then let down by some really bad choices. Star Wars should always be made to look epic.

I did like they managed to get Owen and Beru back.
Her taking control wasn’t totally out of place I thought, as she kinda accepted what Luke’s destiny was, and she told that to Owen. Reminding him, that one day, he’d had to let go. There was a strength to her, where Owen was kinda weak and stubborn about.

Have they betrayed Obi-Wan like they did Luke?

posted on 24/6/22

I loved the way that (I think in the first round if you will) Vader started to stagger back, unsure on his feet (it was before the ‘your strength has returned’, it really reminded me of Vader Vs Luke in ROTJ on the Death Star. Seeing Vader struggle is something really quite exciting and upsetting

I bet the choreographers really looked at that and tried to match it
