If we "match them in all departments " surely it will be a draw not a win? Still think we are too vulnerable at the back playing the 3-5-2. Possible reality check for us. Hope not.
Still we might get help from the 4th official
Just another footballing cliche` Nookie.
Sean O'Driscoll appointed manager at Walsall, will be at the Keepmoat on January 30th.
I have just sat through the most boring hour and a half so far this season. Brum v Cardiff, two mid table teams in the Championship.
No skill, no drive from either side, foul after foul after foul and to top it all Birmingham get a penalty that never was.
The ball came in from a corner, Marshall dropped it and it was hit goalwards by a Brum attacker. The ball hit Connolly in the face, drawing blood from his lip and the substitute ref for Keith Stroud, gave a penalty.
Paul Caddis who scored the goal which sent us down two years ago converted and that was that.
If that is the standard in the Championship and I saw another bad game last week, Wolves v Forest, then I vote we stay in Legue One, the standard looks to be a lot better.
Birmingham have done nothing since Cotterill got injured; he has been a real game changer for them.
Back to Burton. They do seem to have got on a good run which perhaps puts pressure on them to keep it going and we need all the help we can get.
If we lost this one I would not be too perturbed. To beat the leaders deservedly on their own ground would raise our expectations to the ultimate level. That would be a fine Christmas present.
Unfortunately tomorrow is going to be a busy day travelling for me, so I will just hope that I can keep in touch with the score.
If you have a n access to this site Donaldo, I'll be trying to keep a commentary going.
Good evening gentlemen
This will be an interesting game, a real test of the team
Jimmy Hill has passed on. R.I.P.
Todays team
Stuckmann
Lund, Alcock, Butler, Taylor-Sinclair and Evina
Coppinger, Middleton, Grant
Tyson and Williams
Subs
Marosi, Mandeville, Whitehouse, Keegan, Davies,
Chaplow and McCullough.
No Stewart on the bench and several youngsters, maybe keeping the squad fit for the Christmas New Year games. Forrester missing again, could be he is definitely on his way.
Oh, I forgot, Morning all.
I take back my comments yesterday about the Championship, Boro were great this morning at Brighton.
We are away... Come On Rovers !!!!!!!!
Duffy shoots for Burton, saved well by Stuckmann.
Stuckmann saves this time from El Khayati.
GGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL
Williams after 4 minutes, Rovers 1-0.
They did not save ours Get In !!!!!!!
I am going to call this a good start
El Khayati is dangerous for Burton. Good start from Rovers.
Coppinger's shot deflects over for a corner, poorly taken by Grant.
Tyson takes apass from Grant and shoots wide by a couple of feet.
Evina fouled on edge of the box, Coppinger takes, hacked clear by Burton.
Alcock heads off the line, corner to Burton, all attack from both sides.
Burton equalise, Callum Butcher. 1-1.
