Rolling Stones for me. I've always liked them but I have appreciated them more as the years have gone on. Maybe because of all the other keech I've heard!
Sorry DC should have added Floyd into contention. I don't personally like them but appreciate they are defiantly up there
I love the Stones and out of all those band they are probably my favourite. However, I've never thought they ever represented brittish music as much as say Queen.

Know a guy who is a massive classic rock fan and he says Led Zeppelin are the greatest ever, Pink Floyd are the best ever
Wouldn't be able to make my mind up. I obviously just listen to everything thats already been made and wasn't growing up when they were coming out with music and playing all over the world.
Seeing David Gilmour in Feb, though

I'll get some stick for this but I'm dammed if the Manic Street Preachers don't deserve a shout.
Has anyone ever listened to Marc Bolan's early stuff pre T-Rex? I have only recently discovered it. John Peel used to back him massively when he was unknown and went off him when he went down the same route as Bowie.

No stick at all. They are a very good band. They were best when Richy Edwards was still involved. However, I don't think they can be in the same consideration as the other bands mentioned purely because of originality and influence

Away ye go DC. Every riff sounds like T-Rex or The Beatles. You can't be the best British band when you rip off 2 of them

Agree on those points but the Manics still produced some very powerful music, even after accusations of seeking out had become a cliché.

The guitar in Cigarettes and Alcohol is the biggest rip off of T-Rex or any band I've ever seen haha. Cants get sued for less these days
I do like Oasis though and remember having an argument with a mate who said he couldn't stand them. But his favourite band was the Beatles. And also a big T-Rex fan. I hate people that don't like music because it's popular or because a certain crowd of people like it. If it's good. It's good.
