Wood can hassle defenders make them panic a bit yes he doesn't put away many goals but his presence can ruffle a few defences. if he can find a bit of form then he will be a great asset.
Wood needs to embrace his inner Vardy! Confidence lad!!
Wood has been working his socks off recently and has started to win more balls and use his strength a lot more.
He has been playing quite well but his finishing hasn't been up to scratch. He is missing at least 2 decent chances per game of late and he needs to work on it. But he is getting in the right positions so if he can sort his finishing out there is a good player in there.
We're at the point now we've been many, many times, but over xmas shot ourselves in the feet and fallen away from the playoffs.
5 points away is quite a lot when you're chasing teams who consistently get results, we have to get through the next 4 game with at least 2 wins and maybe even a draw to have a shout at still chasing the pack in jan.
We aren't really in with any chance of the play offs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You say that, but when you think of it this way, we are.
If we hadn't dropped any points against the current bottom 3, we'd currently be 6th.
Over the Christmas period we have Forest, Derby and MK Dons. Two of those teams we've played and beat already. We are actually better against the good teams.
16 points from 24 says we are moving in the right direction.
Theres been some garbage performances in there as well.
can't complain atm.
Berradi back and 2 quality signings in jan could make a big difference.
Yes we always seem to give ourselves a glimmer of hope and then it's all taken away with a run of bad results - let's not get too excited !!!
In the top 5 FORM teams u have Derby, Forest and Leeds...
Will be tough set of games against those midlandes. However i think we can beat Derby again and get at least a draw against Forest. Mk Dons i think true to form we may lose.
If we can get to the window within kissing distance of the playoffs, i think we could bolster effectively.
Wood has taken up the scapegoat role we Leeds fans love to assign players. Where you miss a few chances on Sky TV and are over criticised for the rest of the season. You could hear it around you at the game on Sunday, a nothing cross will be put in the box and Wood will nearly get on the end of it and loads of people start moaning asking why he didn't reach it. Suddenly, he's doing everything wrong.
His link up play has improved the last 2 games. He caused problems for Preston and Wolves, set up Byram's goal and his run led to the sending off. His confidence is low in front of goal, but even Beckford used to miss good chances. He's got 7 goals this season, which is a decent return. He's no world beater, but he's not that bad and will start scoring again.
Don't get me wrong I criticised Wood earlier in the season because I didn't think he was pulling his weight and he wasn't putting the required 100% in.
I think that's changed and he is working very hard every game now. Just needs to start putting them chances away because a confidence player would have scored about 4 in the last 2 games
It is odd the way we get player's and bring them down, it must be the norm around here!..
Fact is, we have a forward line that ain't scoring what they should!..
Fact is, we have a midfield that can't hold the middle together!..
Fact is, we have a defence that should be defending!..
Fact is, we have a camera happy keeper!..
Thing is, they all wear the United,(real United!)shirt, and they should be backed the way that shirt should!..
Now, Wood, it seems he has the Becchio problem, he's doing what he's been put there to do and while the team isn't getting it right he's taking the blame!..
Maybe all he needs is a new horse shoe in his boot, eh Shaun?.
We have a team of player's that on their day can do it, but oddly at home they crap up something rotten, it wouldn't have owt to do with the unnecessary pressure they feel before entering Elland Road would it?..
Old Traffords Rudolf once said Elland Road was one of the most intimidating places he's ever been, I thought he meant for other's not us!.
we currently have momentum, so have derby, again we can beat them, the problem being the nerves that kick in at ER....the other 2 teams we should also do ok against....
First thing for this squad is to avoid relegation.
Second thing is to try and improve on last season's league position.
A couple of good results (not performances) have flattered to deceive. We're an average at best team who will finish mid table at best.
I think the important things now are who we are selling in January and if we currently have a transfer embargo in place.

I stated close season I hoped for 10-12th place. Evans may well get that mini progression from us. I'd be very surprised but delighted should he surpass it
Our record over the past few seasons during the Christmas period is not good. We have thrown away our prospects for the season lots of times during this period. The test for Evans is if he can get any sort of result at Forest. My expectation from past experience of an odd kick off time, televised on Sky, post christmas eating, complacency of taking 10 points from 12, is that we will lose. I will be over the moon with a point.
I thought we would lose on Sunday based on the fact that we have often lost at home after a couple of good results, I did say to the lads I sit with that if we won I thought we could make the play offs, I have always said we have an half decent side and hopefully this is starting to show, looks like we will be recruiting in January so onwards and upwards for me,
Reading Evans latest comments in the YEP, I interpret that they are looking to get what they can for Byram and re-invest it in additional players. Evans says he's looking to get his business done early. It remains to be seen if Cellino pockets the fee for Byram or backs Evans.
we wont get very much for Byram
Eddie, depends on transfer embargo, I've heard FL feel Cellino mis-represented the accounts to get FL to lift last transfer embargo.
I see the bookies no longer have us listed as relegation fodder. Despite everything, Evans is doing alright.
Batty - it'll ruin some Xmas' if we're not in meltdown or fighting relegation. Tis this season to be maudlin for some ......................
VOF, supposing, just supposing Jonty is right and the FL restore the embargo. That would give Cellino the excuse not to put his hand in his pocket - no new players to strengthen the team for the run in. Should we blame Jonty for shedding light on the matter, or El Presidente for being the dishonest idiot he is?
