Key part of that statement - 2 years ago. Shame he's lost his ability to finish. Can now sort of see why Wenger played him out wide so much - not so much expectation to be disciplined defensively.
He should have passed it however after that great piece of skill to get into thst position he had a right to shoot.
He was great two years ago cause he balanced both his attacking and defending. It clicked for him.
Now he is trying too hard to score goals.
I want my CM to do his job first. Dominating the midfield and distributing the ball well. Goals are a bonus.

Sorry but play Santi with Flamini and see how good he looks on the middle. Flamini although all heart is sadly passed it.
I'd like to see Ramsey and Coq in the middle to give me a better indication of if he can handle it.
When Cow plays he hardly ever goes forward and always hangs back which is why we looked very good.
People need to stop having a go at Ramsey for that shot. 99.9 % of all footballers would have shot there having done all that work to fashion the chance. Ozil just happens to be in that 0.1%.
I do have a problem with Ramsey's all round game though. He seems to have forgotten how he became good, discipline first, glory later. We saw the same with Song, I can't understand how Wenger is letting them get away with it.
TuMeke
He's letting him get away with it as we have no one else to replace him. Wilshite is unreliable just like Rosicky and Santi and Coq are crocked for a few months.
I realise that but it's still an excuse. I'd have thought Ramsey would like to play for the team first. Or Wenger to command a bit more of his respect for his advice.
No problem with Ramsey going for goal but his overall game is a bit of a mess at the moment.
His passing is poor, he doesn't offer the best of protection for the defense and his game just seems sloppy at times.
Saying that he will always get into dangerous positions and will always score more goals than the likes of Ozil and Cazorla.
Once Cazorla is back, can't believe I am saying this but I would put Ramsey out wide again
I want my CM to do his job first. Dominating the midfield and distributing the ball well. Goals are a bonus.
Yup exactly this.
As soon as the goals start going in again from him, this whole article will become redundant.
Why I'd flamini still getting stick, are people unable to change their pre conceived notions? He has been a brilliant back up dm for the last few games
In my opinion Ramsey goes forward too much. I guess the weakness in your team is your central midfield. Still a good player though.
Not bothered that he didn't pass for that opportunity given that he did most of the work for it (especially in retrospect having won the game).
However, the way Ramsey is constantly trying to get forward is very concerning. He is not disciplined enough to play alongside Flamini who is also prone to wandering. It's notable that for most of 13-14, Ramsey's best season, he was next to Arteta who was willing to sacrifice his game for the sake of the team and just sit in front of the back 4.

I don't know about that, but I certainly think he'd be better suited to a 3 man midfield rather than the 4-2-3-1 that we normally play.
He didn't go forward so much against man city. Think because it was only Newcastle, he thought he could get away with wandering up front. In some ways you want him to have that selfishness, because in the right occasion you need it.
But for now he has to realise he has to be disciplined, we are thread bare in CM. He can't play his natural game at the moment, not until we have likes of coq is back. He has to realise flamini can't protect the back four on his own these days. It's much more important the team win in any way we can now. It's not about any player looking flashy until we have a fit team again. Surely Wenger must be drilling that into him!?
he was good for 6 months of his entire career, and people still think he is just "out of form"

well its true, he has never repeated that form, Wether its a mental thing or he just isn't that good something has changed
Injuries, played right etc. There are enough factors to suggest he can get back to that level

Isn't this exactly that Coq does to allow Santi to play well? That's why I say judge him when he plays alongside Coq. Flamini has been great since he's come in but he's not a patch on Coq.

No, Santi is far more disciplined than Ramsey anyway, probably partially because he may not have the legs or engine to get up and down the pitch for 90mins. Whatever the reason, he frequently ends up as our deepest midfielder, and his attacking is largely limited to skirting around the penalty area and redistributing the ball, so that he's still in a position to provide protection.
Flamini has hardly been great, I'd say he's just been "not-shit"
Bang average player, is Rambo.
To think that he was being linked to Barca
Isn't this exactly that Coq does to allow Santi to play well?
What? Santi exists before Coq. He is not depending on anyone ffs.
