Some sad stories there really. Mcalinden has a real problem now because by all accounts he didn't impress much at Shrewsbury so his career is hanging by a thread now which is bizarre when not so long ago he looked a real prospect. And will Zele ever remain fit for a few months? Can't see him being offered another contract by Wolves. Don't think Rowe is worth persevering with either.
evans definitely
saville not had a fair chance yet
get rid of the rest
Keep saville and Evans.
Get what we can for the rest.
As for incomings, pienaar or agbonlahor would be great but can't see it.
Williamson apparently likely.
The rest, just taking a chance which so far Kenny seems to not trust his own decisions on.
I'd prefer to keep both Evans and Saville at the club Cyp and maybe try Saville in place of McDonald. As for the other 4, send VLP and Rowe back out on loan and don't renew either Ismail or McAlindens contracts.
Shame about Ismail as he seemed to have potential but is now injury prone. If Mac can't even get a starting place with Shrewsbury then his time with us must surely be up.
Any players coming in HAVE to be better than what we have now.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I must be the only person here who really doesn't rate Agbonlahor. I think he has stolen a living as a professional footballer and only made it because he was fast. I think if he was at any club other than Villa, he would have dropped down the divisions years ago. I suppose there is a chance he could do a job at Championship level but, having known someone who has played with him at Villa and also someone who coaches there, I would suggest he would come with massive wages and ego.
I'm surprised at you Cinci. Given the amount of weight you put behind the touches of the ball stat, I wouldn't have thought you would be too interested in a player who only touched the ball 9 times in his last start before being substituted, and two of those touches were kick offs.
As for the players back from loan, unless Kenny is going to give them a proper chance, there is little point in keeping them. I think all of them (with the exception of McAlinden) have the potential to be useful squad members.
If they are not going to play I would probably send Saville and Evans back out on loan and assess them over the summer and pre season. Rowe may as well be sold, as really now is make or break for him.
RVLP has some potential (as shown at Brighton) maybe another loan and if he doesn't impress, sell him in the summer.
Ismail, as sad as it is, is too injury prone. I think he is out of contract this summer, so I would probably try and sell him now or release him at the end of the season. I hope he manages to get over his problems though as he has a lot of potential.
I would try and get whatever I can for McAlinden. I play cricket with a lad who played in the same team as McAlinden as a kid and he was always surprised that he made it, as he wasn't even that teams best player. That said, the academy staff (who I am sure know a lot more than the lad I know) always seemed impressed with him, but unfortunately it doesn't look like he will make the grade.
Always thought he was a dangerous player on his day.
As for his last game, no idea, perhaps he is crap now or maybe Villa are crap?
As for touches of the ball, I only put weight on such things when its the key positions that don't get on the ball as much as they should, and I put more weight on it when they get less touches than the lazy and disinterested players who put in much less effort.

Talk to any Villa fan and you'll find they were apoplectic when he was given his new contract last season. Always been a one trick pony - pace - and that is fading fast.

Aston Villas Michael Owen perhaps.

Translation::: one member of our midfield triangle touches the ball less than most players on the pitch but that's ok as his initials are DE.
I don't put much weight on such things
I think it's Kenny's system not getting the best out of him and Benik not linking up with him very well. Any player would find it hard in those circumstances.
You would no doubt if his name was Jed Wallace.

I'd watch him play football and make a decision on that basis. A novel approach compared to "my mate saw 'im play an' 'e thought 'e was bostin'" I know but the one I prefer never the less.

Well Edwards has only scored two when playing the 'number ten' role behind Afobe, which is our most common pairing.
Yeah, but one despite being in his prime wasn't as good as Jacobs in league one.
His 22 games with 9 goals says different. Better goal scoring ratio than Jacobs that season.
We were much better with Jacobs
Regarding Afobe. My Opinion for Him is 50/50
Yes he is isolated and can get bored with the trash we are playing like but in my opinion doesn't help himself.
Working as a team closing down. a number of times benik adobe was just walking around while watching dave edwards does a three man job in closing down. takes forever to get back onside very lazy yeah it might be frustrating but your team and if he closed down we maybe able to do more breaks. just need to imply the tactics we played against blues. best I've seen wolves close down the amount of times we broke up play and then countered a lot which was exciting
Were we? Our last 10 games of that season (when we played our best football) we won 8 and drew 2. We scored 24 goals, with Edwards getting 6 of them.
He was playing the 'number 10' role, as you call it, at that point with Jacobs out wide. I would argue that we were better with Edwards there.
That's what matters isn't it, or so I am told, or is it stats now?
