Agreed. As long as he get's over his injury that kept him out of the last U21 game for ManU!

hello chris

Why are we happy to see some of our best players leave the club?

We are going to struggle without Henri, should he leave.

We all know how much Freedman loves signing midfielders, so I don't read anything into this rumour, especially not Lansbury leaving!

Henri has been vital this season. He allows David Vaughan to play the way he does. He stays back when we attack. If the opposition gain possession and hit us on the break, Henri will be the one to stall or stop them, occasionally by giving away free kicks. All teams have someone fulfilling this role,

Having said that I think Henri is better when going forward, but someone has to stay at home and mind the shop.

If we were to sign Gardner we would see a different Henri.

If we do sign Powell I hope he is better than the last loan signing from Man U, what a dud he turned out to be.

Guys, a word of caution here - Powell is very much one to avoid. We took him on loan from man Utd last season and his attitude was poor. He turned up late for training and was annoyed because he expected to walk into the team. He made a couple of sub appearances but was very poor.

He's had unsuccessful loan spells before and United have been trying to get shot of him for some time. This isn't sour grapes, I got very excited on here when Leicester took him on loan. He has bags of ability but his career is going downhill fast.

He would be a poor replacement for Lansbury IMO. Before strett and cainggia get worked up, I did warn that Chris ogrady was Shiite when you signed him. And I'm sure some would agree that he is

Last years news, Blackstarr

I am sure Powell will fit right in at our place!

Lansbury has been used for most of the season deeper than we normally associate him due to the injury of Tesche. He's doing a job that over years has been under appreciated in many quarters and due to history of the uncertainty regarding him leaving, plus being associated with a more attacking role; some of the stick is probably harsh.

Another thing I see is criticism of set plays and even corners. Where I agree that free kicks and penalties haven't been great; where Mills especially has been playing, corners have been where a lot of chances come from for us.

As such, if we are on course to be out of embargo anyway we shouldn't sell unless he REALLY pushes it. The funds aren't much good in the short-term, and we can only replace with loans we have no guarantee on being with us after their spell finishes.

Rev, you can't criticise his lack of goals this season any more than you can for say any other defensive minded players

We also have a few loans already and the match day squad has limits, so we need to be careful....

LB -> Loan likely to come
Then there is
Oliveria
O'Grady
Mendes

Think that leaves one place to add in to the starting XI, we could do without letting any more first team permanent players go. It's pretty unlikely that we'll sign anyone perm in January

Sounds like he could be a bit of a liability, this guy, BS. I hope we know what we are doing....

Sph I agree, I'm honestly not here on the wind up he really was a massive disappointment for us. To be fair he had a good spell at Wigan when he was played as a striker but several sources have been quoted as saying he just isn't hungry enough.

It's a shame because the guy has bags of natural ability

Here's a more up to date piece, BS. He played for the U21's and was inspirational upfront, apparently. Appreciated that the oppo was relatively poor though...

Sounds like he's done better in the striking role, than as a midfielder. He's scored 29 in 117, and that was after a slow start in 2010-11.

posted on 6/1/16

Certainly looks like he could work better as a striker, he didn't loom great as a midfielder in his brief appearances for us. I hope his attitude has improved because England could do with his kind of talent.

I think his problem to a certain extent has been that he expects and wants to play for United. He isn't consistent enough though and he needs to prove his worth with another side first

posted on 6/1/16

Wouldn't be my cup of tea so hopefully it's all paper talk. There must surely be better options for us. However if we're signing him as a striker to play regularly then it might be worth the risk.

According to Paul Taylor we're close to getting Gardner back for rest of season.

Don't be ridiculous, Ray, I've been assured by caniggia that any Gardner deal is well and truly 'off'.
