Your take on Rooney's performance?

Agreed. He was quality last night. If h can maintain that level we should get top 4

I think people are taking way too much from last nights game, but in terms of the team performance and Rooney's.

We basically witness two poor sides trade attacks and managed to come out level. We squandered a lead twice!

The game was perfectly set up for Rooney to thrive and he did pretty well. He's always looked better on the counter attack for me and pleased to see him get a couple of goals and the assist.

Yes he played well and yes it was a pretty poor Newcastle we were against. However, Rooney I think is very much a confidence player and hopefully he can carry that forward to the weekend.

I think we should play more or less the same team again on Sunday with Carrick or Schweinsteiger in for Fellaini. If Fellaini were to play though I would push him further forward. Liverpool have a few defenders out so I think we should look to be positive against them. Hopefully they get a red card or two tonight as well!

Not expecting much from Rooney at Anfield.

He played well..simple as that.

But the old Rooney would go on a long scoring run and play well every week. Recent Rooney has had a game like that then been awful for months.

Let's see how he does in the near future to see if he's back. But I know the OP was just talking about last night and he was good. Even the most Anti-Rooney fan should agree

people going OTT about what was ultimately a poor performance from rooney, even when he said to the ref ''I got the ball'' replays showed he got the player and was no where near the ball

It was me who said about ball being on a plate too and it was. It rebounded just right and sat just right for him.

Had he been on form rooney would have been in the box.

Overll fellaini had a better game than rooney

Utterly utterly clueless

Gotta love those 20+ yard tap ins that are laid on a plate

Scored the pen, beautiful hold up play and assist, great 2nd goal and general good play alround.

I can only assume you were watching on some very poor quality stream, while tapping away on the match thread?

Rooney plays well, we play well. See it is that simple. Which is why we need more consistency from him.

each week, we'd be pushing for a title.

Right accept that Rooney doesn't show up each week and that's the best he's played all season. And we wouldn't coz we'd still crap with him in the side.

We conceded 3 goals to one of the worst premier league sides that has ever played in the league.

Dreadful.

He was a bit sharper last night but he's lost that turn of pace that gets him away or past defenders and he ain't getting it back. He's still capable of finishes like last night and what a finish it was but its been a long time coming. He still needs to be moved on in the summer along with a few others.

I think there are one or two players I would blame for that before Rooney.

We are generally decent, defensively, whether Rooney plays well or plays badly.

If he played well week in, week out... How would that affect the defence?

Something we've not had for years. Which is why his continual inclusion in the team is so detrimental.

We need to move on from Rooney.

It wouldn't.

And he's not gonna play like that week in week out, he's been crap for years.

Plenty of crap players show up every now and again.

He did play well, won't bet money it will be a regular thing, he will more than likely revert to type

Problem with some of you guys is you buy into the media hype

They too are quick to latch onto 1 good thing he does and ignore the 20 bad

Ok lets say the second goal was world class, what was our number 9 doing there? He should have been in the 6 yard box not outside the 18 yard one

i remember matt le tissiers last goal at st marys except he didnt hit a rebound, and that is rooney for us now.
funny thing matt hufffed and puffed bcause he was over weight, rooney looks in good shape but he cant seem to run with the ball

posted on 13/1/16

He wasn't playing number 9. He dropped into number 10 when Mata came on.

posted on 13/1/16

Redd Foxx, you have a really really weird hatred of Rooney. Is it because he owns more waistcoats than you?

here you go lads all yesterdays goal

Now lingaards goal was a nice ball from rooney right? wrong no way with a ball like that your striker should get caught and have to stop and wait for lingard. Old rooney has a go and scores that

rooneys second notice mata over take and take a good position by the far post, memphis shoots and (for darren who reckons felliani headed the ball to a NUFC player) the newcastle player tees up rooney who just wacks it, fortunately it went in

Redd Foxx, you think Fellaini had a better game than Rooney. Your opinion is about as valid as Jimmy Saville's opinions on child rearing.

posted on 13/1/16

Moving the goalposts. You said he was playing number 9, he wasn't after the Mata sub.

Rooney is shiiiiit. He had a decent game, though. I don't know why it's such a big deal admitting it.

Wait are you comparing blocking a shot to heading the ball back in towards a Newcastle defender? Jesus.
