Thoughts on Spurs Tonight

posted on 13/1/16

I thought Davies did well to keep Mahrez quiet tonight and was a decent outlet on the left again. Between him and Rose the other day, I'd have to say I was more impressed by Davies.

Kane's dropping deep because there was no room to move between a well organised defence and we were spending too much time playing in front of them. He needs someone to play that crafty through ball, and it's lacking at the moment as Eriksen is off form.

Other than that, I probably agree with the rest of the summary

eriksen is BADLY off form yes, and he's lucky to escape a point of his own in my article.

needs a good session on the bench to refocus him.

I thought he did ok for a while but faded very early on. It was telling that he took Eriksen off before Carroll tonight. Trouble with benching him is we don't have a lot of creativity up front without him.

Not sure if it's lack of form or fatigue due to this high press we play. It's been noticeable lately we seem to be playing it in spells as we can't keep up that tempo all game.

inevitable. pressing teams always fade… our mistake was not winning all the games we should have won (but drew) early season…

needs a rethink from Poch i think.. and some fresh additions this window.

I think the clue to the rethink already having been made was plain to see with his comment today about playing 2 strikers.

All good points although I'd say the Toby A critism is harsh considering the difference he has made. And in truth I didn't feel either of the two centre backs had a bad game, we needed to be doing more in the final 3rd. Walker does my head in consistently and the rest are very accurate points. Fair play lesta and we really can have no excuse if we get out done again by these lot in the replay.

I posted from early on in the match thread "A frustrating night ahead." I posted it three times. Lost at home to Newcastle, drew with a not so good Everton, lucky off side not seen against Watford, not surprising Spurs lost to Leicester. Early domination came to nothing: Need another striker or Son to start.

I think we should let them score an unmarked header from a corner in the first minute next Tues. That gets it out of the way early and gives us 90+ minutes to get back into it. Useless bottlers!

Would be great to play 442 now and again but lack of the required personnel obviously restricts this option.

We could also try parking the bus for a while during a game to give ourselves a breather and save our legs for the last twenty minutes. Too often we have been outran by opponents this season and been mugged late on because too many players are cream crackered.

Only Toby knows what he was doing for that corner. The ball was going one way and he was going the other and completely took out Dier. It may be that Huth was Dier's man to mark but just don't get why Toby was chasing his man when the ball was obviously going to reach far post and he was there to challenge. If Toby was marking Huth then even more of a head scratch.

Eriksen has been badly off form for a while now and apart from a fine finish last Sunday i can't think of anything that he has really contributed recently.

I would like Son to start instead of Eriksen but then we have the problem of not having an attacking player off the bench until we hopefully sign a striker.

Poch mentioned today that he would consider playing Kane off another striker and a few of us are thinking the same thing but if we played Kane deeper as a number 10 that would mean either Alli or Dembele having to play wide.

This OP ain't got a bloody clue. As for claiming he was at the game - does he think we were born yesterday?

In terms of the serious problems, if we continue to play our weakest player Lamela every game we will never achieve anything. I generally feel sorry for this group of players who have to carry this flop every week.

I was pro Poch but playing with 10 men plus Lamela is costing us so bad.

Chicken, even though, like most people on here I disagree with you on Lamela, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

However, when it becomes the only thing you have to say, and you repeat it ad nauseum, it gets very, very tedious.

Can't tell if you're just doing it to cause another argument with Chronic or because you want to play pantomime vilain, but do yourself and us a favour and change the fackin record please

Lamela actually was one of the bright sparks today. Weren't his fault Kane missed that one on one after a superb through ball by Lamela

Examples of your wind ups or examples of Lamela's numerous good performances this season?

Every time I offer the independent journalists view too to prove it's not just a bias view but you are too stubborn to believe it.

When I get in work tomorrow I will set up an article called Lamela Watch and I will record all the independent views - not just mine or the JA ass lickers - that way we can see who is a wind up, real or otherwise.

I hope you will join in. Deal?

This is a priceless comment. When Soldado missed 1 yard sitters from inch perfect Lennon assists I don't recall anyone praising Lennon.

To be fair that was a nice little pass but he gave the ball away 5 times as much.

As I've said, I will share with you the independent view tomorrow to see if they agree with me or you's.

Can't say fairer than that!

think you're being very harsh on Davies if you think that was one of the worst FB performances of late. Dealt with Mahrez well and got forward well too, with decent delivery

Walker was an utter joke on the other hand. Not a single decent delivery that i recall and continues to make gaffes which have riddled his career

Lamela should have done better with the Davies low cross, at least hit the target from that distance.

Eriksen started brightly but faded badly, though i would have kept him on instead of Carroll i think.

My thoughts are that Spurs are facking annoying. All the other teams around us had to drop points, and we had to go and lose as well.
