I'd be amazed but it does also seem to be a very reasonable fee, too reasonable in some sense?
I see Liverpool are also after a Southampton forward, thought they'd have learnt there lesson by now!
On the face of it, £4m looks a bargain and it will be if he stays fit.
If he doesn't, £4m suddenly starts to look like a bad investment.
He's looked fine for the last year so it looks like a very good buy for Southampton although I'm not 100% convinced he fits in with their style of play.
4m is peanuts and so can't really be a bad investment
Even if he is injured a lot. He will score a few goals and miss a lot of games. 4-5 m about the right price
Rejecting our 12 million bid in the summer seems silly now. Would of taken him for 4 million, 18 league goals last season proves he has quality.
He obviously did not want to come here or we decided we did not want him now. Remember in the summer we did not know the kind of season Vardy was going to have.
Good to hear from you 1884 again
Austin was a Pearson target not a Ranieri target? Correct me if i am wrong?
Also he spends more time on the sidelines than playing so i am not too bothered to be honest
Helllo there 1884......... Yes give them 4 mill and the Argie too! Nice option coming off the bench, watch some some prat call me racist.
1-4 result today please.
£4m, or 80% of the fee we got from Boro for Nugent. On that basis alone I would like to have seen up at the KP.
In spite of injuries, he'd be a hell of a sub to be able to bring on if we're chasing a game.
Has he been promised first team football at Saints? I wonder if Pelle might be on his way this window.
Sorry 1884 mistaken identity, there used to be another poster with that number... Welcome aboard.
Cheers Florida, will take the welcome regardless of mistaken identity!
On Austin, I think he would have been a decent shout. Not sure if he was a Pearson target specifically, I consider them all to be Walsh targets!!
Maybe just maybe we are in for someone better?
Go on then Nev - give us someone to speculate about...!
I can't believe that Godfather has not got something lined up it might be a loan deal for the rest of the season?
Come on Nev spill the beans....
It seems 4 million is a steal but strange no one else chased him. Perhaps David Golds words had some truth to them....?
Personally I thought him worth the gamble at that price.
They were saying on SSN earlier they were surprised he passed the medical as one of his knees has no ligaments left . I think this is probably why some clubs didn't take a punt, especially at 4 million.
we offered 12 mil which was the only offer. they hung out for 15 mil in the summer. end of story here as QPR lost out.
there are various stories flouting about him,it's all crap.
