Iwobi looks very average to me.

I don't know how you can call him average.

With far more conviction than those chucking Elneny into our starting XI before ever seeing him play.

We had all of this last year with Akpom, despite looking extremely average people were so fed up with Giroud they over hyped him.

The same is happening now with Iwobi. The guy hasn't done much wrong, but he also hasn't done anywhere near enough to suggest he should be heavily involved in first team football. Each time I've watched him he is hesitant on the ball when he has to much time and despite being able to turn the burners on, he often looks backwards or inside for the easy pass when the opportunity is there to beat a man. All good for keeping possession, but i want wingers with that killer edge.

I'd say that's a compliment for a player who's barely played an hour of 'grown up' football.

Bizarre that anyone has even attempted to assess Iwobi.

I think Nigeria would surprise a lot of people if they were invited.

Walcotts playing out of position on the left. Hes always been crap there. Probably not happy at not playing at cf again as well.

our front 3 rotate and a lot of the times walcott does get the ball it is down the centre so position isn't an issue

Fans so quick to label players average.

Bellerin at Dortmund looked shocking. Bellerin after a run in the side is keeping France's No 1 RB out for 12 months.

Joel in his first start (C1C) looked shocking. Joel after 1 month in the side is literally our best attacking midfielder after Ozil and Alexis.

Don't some fans get tired of eating humble pie. The lad has been special in the youth side for a long while.

His physical strength and his decision making (choosing to pass the ball when necessary instead of a pointless dribble ala the Ox) has helped his step-up.

Jury's still out, but Iwobi has looked good for one who's had very little game time. Least you could do is give him the benefit of the doubt.

On thing for sure is he seems like a good enough backup player (and an alternative to playing Gibbs on the left wing).

There's no potential humble pie in saying that after barely any minutes Iwobi just looks average at this level and shouldnt yet be talked about as a replacement for Walcott. He has done nothing to prove otherwise.

People need to accept reality, just as they eventually did after claiming Akpom should start ahead of Giroud.

"just as they eventually did after claiming Akpom should start ahead of Giroud."

Shocking dig at poor Inventor here.

Nothing is wrong with Walcott, he is what he is, which is useful but inconsistent and injury prone - if anything he has slightly improved over the years (shooting, timing of runs) - but fundamentally his ability to control a football has always been poor.
