The bench shows how light we are in the centre of the park with Schwein and Carrick out.

Whether Fellaini goes or not, and with questions around Carrick's future, we need a senior reinforcement in CM in my mind. Blind can work at DM, but with our injuries at the back and without knowing how fit Schwein will remain, we really could do with an extra body, especially if we are to continue with 4-2-3-1.

An alternative is to look at promoting Goss or Gribbin and giving them a few games, but it's probably much too early for both (especially Gribbin) and there's too much at stake at present to risk either.

Hopefully Adnan or Pierrera can prove their worth sooner or later. I know Fellaini has his uses and was directly involved in both the Liverpool goal and Newcastle opener but with him starting we are too limited as a team.

Lingard isn't great but apart from the Liverpool game he has at least tried and arguably earns his spot in the side.

For me, barring his finishing, he's been consistently better than Memphis, he looks sharper and more likely to contribute than Mata does at present, and he deserves his place at present.

Liverpool doing what Leicester did to us

I'd be happy with a Blind, Schneiderlin and Herrera midfield but because of a lack of depth at CB and a seeming curse at LB we probably won't see it this season.

True and that's the thing. While Memphis looks more of a talent he hasn't done enough so doesn't deserve a place. But then I do hope that Memphis, Adnan and Peirrera can at some point prove their worth, they all have the talent but you need more than that to succeed.
