Noone thinks a new manager will solve all our problems. But a capable manager will solve so many annoying issues.

Football men rarely buy clubs because they don't have the cash.. the issue is, there is no tier between the corporates at the club and the manager.. we need a director of football from a football background and men around him, making the football decisions and making the final decisions on transfers and how we should play our football.. then it's the managers job to ensure we play said style and it's up to him to get the best out of the players. it would also ensure we pick a manager that fits these values and not have extremes where you have Jose and Pep as contenders when they are so different.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Leicester sign players to fit a style of play, with specific attitude and ability check lists. They're assessed on how they will fit in with the team, the way we play and the squad of players.
We don't just pick players and try to fit square pegs into round holes, which is what's happening at United by the looks of it. Too disjointed and unbalanced.
Tell the Man Utd manager you're a silly, stubborn old woman!

it's amazing how some think a change of just one man will solve our problemsthe problems at utd are so deeper, it's not going to get better for ages.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep that's most likely true but the Owners aren't going anywhere soon it seems and Ed is their best mate !
Giggs needs to get out now too for his own sake and start his managerial career elsewhere.
The pressure on him now would be just too much surely
tbh your squad isnt very good despite the amount you have spent so far. Perreira should be nowhere near your team for example. Fellaini too. Rooney's past it. I don't think there is a manager that can do much with the current squad. think the problem is lack of value in the market. Real quality is at a premium!
The club is fast losing its identity and has absolutely no idea where it is heading. The academy situation is proof of that.

I wouldn't go as far to say it's desperate but we need changes for sure. We really should also be competing with City and Chelsea in the youth stakes too.
If LVG goes who would the United fans want and what changes would you like with regards to tactics and personal ?

A different manager certainly won't serve up no goals 11 first halves in a row at old Trafford. Dismal
Whoever replaces LVG has a hard job and will require further big investment. I maintain we don't have enough quality, too many average players. Not enough pace, creativity, energy, leadership.
Blanc or Pochettino would be very interesting appointments. Of course no guarantee of success.
Mourinho if the 6-page letter is true just shows how much he covets the job and wants to manage the club.
I and many others may come around to wanting him if his behaviour were to change.
I would reckon he would get us organised and competing quite quickly with a few buys in the summer.
Stones, Lewandowski, CM and a winger !!!1
From what I can see , there is quite a bit of rebuilding to do. What I want to know is what the fans think the new man needs to do and how long would you give him ?

Exactly. Some freaks on this site seem so scared to change in case things get worse.
Even Moyes was better than this.
I've always been against a director of football as I think they can undermine a manager. But if we were to bring one in who worked in conjunction with the manager and liaised with the owners, it could be very useful
LVT,
Do you think you can attract that calibre players with Uniteds current predicament ?
We will always attract players that are talented. We might not get the very very best if we fall further from grace but the tradition of the club, to play in front of 75K fans every home game and of course the amount we can pay players all contribute. Get a great manager with a great reputation who players like to play for and we will be ok with time.
What's worrying is the state of our academy and how City, Chelsea, Spurs for example have pushed ahead of us
Run for the hills y'all

Of the 126 players called up by England at under-16 to under-21 level in August, United provided just TWO players.
-----------------------------------------------
I've personally found this a bit strange tbh. Even when our youth sides have been doing well, we still haven't had many call ups for some reason.
There's been a few grumbles about a club v country disagreement, which to an extent would explain us having few players called up during recent International breaks.
I don't think it's a lack of quality because despite the doom and gloom surrounding the academy and youth system in general at the moment, we still do have some promising young players, even though the U18 side have been in really poor form the last few months.
We're ridiculously short in terms of squad depth too and if we get injuries at U21 level, players are moved up from the U18s which leaves the squad very thin.
Warren Joyce a few months back said that United had to turn down loan offers for players who the club wanted to continue to develop on loan because it would leave us unable to field an U21 side.
It's incredibly poor planning and further evidence of how bad things are.
