Everybody else is strengthening (or at least think they are). We are not. If you don't run a club with some ambition in today's world you are doomed, or likely to be.

There was a striker somewhere who was mentioned who nobody seems to have grabbed. But it's clutching at straws.

Relegation can happen to any club. What's happening to us is a disease which won't be purged until Lerner has gone. Those at the top can come out with all the management hype they like. But if you run a football club without any ambition then the club will fail.

In the meantime, let's support Garde and the team the best we can.

Leicester fan in peace here.

I'm sorry to say that panic buying in the January transfer window when you're stuck at the bottom is usually throwing good money after bad. Barring a Leicester-style miracle from last season, I think you're down.

On the plus side, players capable of getting you out of the Championship will be easier to come by and I think the lure of a club of Villa's size and history will be a tremendous pull next close season.

Hopefully your off-field issues will be resolved, for too long you've seemed like a rudderless ship left to drift. Shocking.

4 days or so left we wont get anyone who will do any good this year.

The white flag is out and a new chairman new no2 and talk of Randy boys son being given some kind of position just about says it all.

Yep we are down but why take the pissssss?

Please feck off Lerner asap

hallgreenfox - thanks for that. Maybe if we keep the best of this squad intact and add to to then promotion is on the cards.

I still haven't given up. Can we put in the necessary performances? It's a long shot, but we are improving. We need the squad to maintain its current spirit and put in a good February. But it'll have to be a very good February.

Good luck to Senderos. He did nothing wrong.

Come on, those aren't players who aren't good enough. There are a load of players in the PL who are no better and probably worse. Must be questions over Kozak who hasn't really clicked and Clark who's not consistent enough, but the others are at the core of our improved performances over the last few games. We were clearly better than say Baggies when we played them. If only we could build an attack with a real cutting edge we'd be OK.

Some good comments on here and the effort is there.

We will lose the more talented/Foreign players I would think but for a great club like ours it seems a shame that the hierarchy have thrown in the towel at the expense of the supporters.

Biggest load of crap ive heard came from Grant......delusional not the right word.....frustrated

Grant One of the toadies who sat alongside McLeish.

Not sure we will lose that many players. At least they're not on short-term contracts. Their salaries won't be costing us a bomb if we go down, so we can afford to keep them. If someone comes in for them we can demand a decent price; I think the lower PL clubs won't pay it and the higher ones won't want them.

We might just get somebody in on the transfer deadline. Garde said a couple of weeks ago it could go to the wire, with players seeing what offers are around, so haven't entirely given up hope on that.
