These rankings still confuse me Lefty....and looking at the FAQ's it confuses me further! Why should you earn MORE points if you are a lower-rated team for a drawn series, for example, than a higher-rated team? Seems odd to me. I think they could possibly be simpler though of course until we get test series competed throughout the world so every test team gets an equal number of tests against equal opposition countries, I guess this will never be resolved! Ah well

bantam - agree. its confusing, just as much as duckworth Lewis.!!

I suppose the theory behind it is to give teams like Bangladesh more points to push them up, but once they get higher up it becomes more difficult.

It could be alot more simpler, like football, where every team gets the same points regardless of their position.

Test series throughout the world wont happen, and will take an age. Especially with these tours taking place where no test matches are scheduled. Just a bunch of ODI's and 20\20's...

England v Pakistan should be interesting, with home advantage England should come out on top BUT it is a really good match up and Pakistan are no walk in the park in the test format.

Comes down to money I guess, for example, who is going to pay much interest in the Australia Bangladesh test's?? a handful of purists, and maybe some dedicated Aus\Bangladesh fans. It wont attract much more

Very true Lefty - hence why the Ashes and India-vs-Pakistan are always sold out. I'd like to see a two-division thing with one going up and one going down, or maybe two going down and two up every, say, two years. But thats not going to happen because at present standings, England would be facing Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and no-one could sell that!!

Lefty - it will be a walk in the park. 4-0 to England

India being top of tests is appalling. Cricket is the real loser.

Serial - not denying that one bit, India are not great in this format, but, however, they are ranked number 1.

The same ranking England fans were jumping up and down at, when they reached the summit .

In my honest opinion I think we should have a 8 month cycle in cricket every year. Top 6-8 teams compete throughout the 8 months where every team plays each other home and away and a test , a few odis and t20 and get points and then at the end have a semi final and final. This would make all forms of the game very interesting

Viru - For cricket it would be a great idea. For money and viewing figures it would not be.

If you had a tour, lets say West Indies v Sri Lanka. The test matches would hardly be watched, and I'd be surprised if it gets any air time in the UK.

I'd love to see it though.

Lefty,

To be honest we don't deserve the top ranking. I would be more happy if we win an overseas test series in Aus, SA, Eng or even New Zealand over these rankings. Under Dhobi we have become quite weak in ODI too n he is past his prime for a long time now. Also we have the worst bowling attack in the world and even Bangladesh has better bowling unit than us. Thanks to our stupid selectors n bloody idiot BCCI. I also prefer DRS since we tend to get more bad decisions than good. Just my opinion Monsier!

serial is always so anti Pakistani. He thought England would hammer Pakistani in the test series in the Winter and he was proven absoloutely wrong!

Did I? News to me. I didn't make a prediction as I pessimistic about our chances in the desert.

Few free to continue to lie if it makes you feel better.

How India are number 1 is funny.. England have won the ashes and won in SA.. where as india have got there without needing to win away.

@Englandwhoelse.. U do make some funny reasoning for England. I can counter likewise as India won in Srilanka n beat SA at home as ur team won Ashes at home. However I do agree that England n Australia including SA are lot better test team than us..
