I really dont understand how real are worth some 31 million more than us a season to addidas based on club statures alone.

Because the Adidas 3 stripes on Real Madrid is likely to be seen on more CL games, mor trophies lifts and more superstar players on their social media accounts.

ioag doing conspiracy theories now....

I actually hadn't heard of Qatar stalling on a new Barca deal. Anyway, its a lot of money ioag, smile a bit. Your revenues will soon be more than that of 18 La Liga teams combined!

Don't think this deal or United's goes on 'likelihoods' though.

The figure quoted (according to Marca) would also be dependant on certain targets being met.

The way United have declined since signing that deal with Adidas, and the global superstars that play at Madrid, compared to their counterparts at United, just be thankful you got as much as you did.

Exactly, if we were to negotiate a new kit deal today I'd be staggered if we got that much.

You only have to look on twitter and USA fans are saying things like:

I find it hard to justify waking up at 5am for a United game.

I'm shocked it isn't already.

But it's not that far fetched, Wump. It's pretty well known that the two have teamed up on more than on occasion to impose themselves on the rest of La Liga clubs.

Hardly outrageous to think they wouldn't do the same given the threat they are both under on a European/global level due to the mammoth rise in PL revnues.

And smile...yeah...only sort of...it wouldn't make me that happy if all it does is allow Uncle Flo to continue to implement his ridiculous approaches.

Agreed there and I was about to post something similar. With Barca and Madrid pushing each other more and more and their need to stay ahead of the PL clubs, the rest of La Liga is only going to be left behind.

Incredible amount of money. Adidas' kit deals blow everyone elses out of the water. Bayern, United and then this one are more than double or treble what anyone else gets.

Bayern's next deal will exclipse United's, so will Barca's.

Maybe PSG.

Is Ed that much of a commercial genius?

Bayern already signed their new Adidas deal last year I read this morning.

Runs 'till 2030 and only reaches the €90M mark in the latter seasons. Poor sods have to do with €60M-odd for now.

posted on 29/1/16

Given Bayern's current deal runs until 2030 the chances are it might if the current rate of inflation carries on. Get back to me in 14 years.

Will be interesting to see what Nike do with Barca and PSG.

I'd be shocked if PSG's is anywhere near these. Barca you'd imagine they would but Nike don't appear to be willing to pay the sort of money Adidas have.

PSG will probably land a deal worth €350M a season from Qatar Meals-On-Wheels or some such.

Read yesterday that Barca and Qatar couldn't come to an agreement on a new contract, they're seriously lacking funds and have a massive debt hanging over them too. Messi is supposed to be signing a new contract where he earns £549,000 a week too. Madness.

And the shirts keep on getting more and more expensive. Its once again fans who get stung through pure greed.

I havent bought a replica shirt in 7 seasons now but I get my little one a red shirt now. Luckily he's still under 2.

Yeah their deal with the Qatari's is ridiculous.

They can't command the same from Nike, though.

And then our next one will eclipse theirs. That is how it goes. You do the best you can at that time. You can't judge Ed based on what other clubs get a few years down the line.

Only thing is, Arab, that all those gloom-and-doom reports are possibly just wishful thinking originally coming out of the Madrid media.

If Swissramble's report from a couple of years back still holds true, their debt should still be perfectly manageable. Think that could also be a mixture of sensationalism and wishful thinking on behalf of the UK media.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

They'll just set up a massive sportswear brand using all the surviving, leftover cheap labour from the World Cup stadiums. Or have their kids back in Pakistan sew them together.

(Whereas we all know Adidas/Nike would never dream of doing something like that.)

Look at it this way, Adidas own shares in Bayern Munich, they're Germany's biggest club and brand, and they got a smaller deal on a longer contract after we signed our deal with Adidas. All things considered, I think Ed (and whoever else was involved) did well getting £75m a year.

I'd imagine both parties might have included some kind of clause whereby it gets reviewed at some stage or under certain particularly deleterious conditions.

As I said earlier, Real and maybe Barca are the only two clubs that I think could beat our deal. I don't think Bayern or PSG have the world wide appeal we have.

Dare I say it but the dips probably have more world wide appeal than Bayern and PSG

Doubt they have more than Bayern. Bayern have been a major player in the CL the last five years don't forget, Liverpool have hardly been in it.

From what I've read Bayern's comercial side is doing very well. Although it would appear a few of their deals are inflated, such as the ones with Audi, Adidas and Allianz given they're shareholders in the club, but nonetheless they're a more appealing club than the scousers.
