I think he'd take a striker, I just don't think he'd take ANY striker.
It's not just as simple as wanting a player and getting him. The player may want to stay playing at his parent club with the Euros coming up. His club may not be under pressure to sell and may not have a replacement lined up. The price may be too high for what will almost certainly be a 2nd choice.

Now what you have just said, I agree with, but those are problems for Levy. If Levy can't get a deal done for whatever reason, the conclusion cannot be (as others have suggested) that Poch has decided that he doesn't need a striker. It's because the club can't or won't get a deal done for one of Poch's targets.
Why suddenly would it be about Poch not wanting anyone, when we've seen this same situation happen with each of our previous managers this decade? There has been a reluctance to go about spending on anyone in Jan when we could have done with adding to squad, during Redknapp's, AVB's, Sherwood's, and now Poch's reigns. The one constant tying them all together is Levy.
Berahino was our number 1 target and it looks like newcastle of all clubs are going to grab him now because they are willing to pay the required amount. The only thing I can think could happen would be berahino might not want to go to Newcastle and spurs are the club he still would want. Will spurs possibly make a deadline day bid and battle Newcastle for his signature? If spurs had some ambition and really want to cement our spot in the top 4 and even possibly challenge the title then they would. Berahino would improve us no doubt about it despite certain people on here not rating him
I don't understand the 'Berahino has attitude' brigade.
He was told by Pulis if the right offer came in then he could leave. We offered 3 different bids the last being £25m (granted it wasn't a one off cash payment) but a big bid nonetheless.
Their slag of a chairman then decided it wasn't okay and blocked a move which would have helped Berahino's career.
I'm sure Poch would straighten him out if need be and obviously he hasn't scored as many goals this season - he has hardly played consistently/ with the right mentality.
I don't think £21m is a huge amount for Berhaino personally (for us). He is a young player who has proven he could score goals and he's also English will would help with the overall chemistry with Kane, Alli, Dier etc.
If Newcastle get him then fair play to them. They'll have a team definitely good enough to stay up and even get top 10 next year if managed well.
"I don't understand the 'Berahino has attitude' brigade"
Erm, probably has something to do with the comments Pulis made about a month ago perhaps?

"he's also English will would help with the overall chemistry with Kane, Alli, Dier etc."
What does that have to do with anything? Do all English players like each other and automatically play well together?
If this Dembele has been loaned back as reported, I'm hoping we hijack this berahino deal. Hope is always the case with levy and spurs though as I certainly don't think we will but I still hold that small hope

Don't be silly, of course it helps. They will have more in common and bond outside of the pitch which helps the overall spirit of the team.

hope we don't unless poch wants him - which there is no evidence of at the moment.
And that article proves nothing. Ive already explained why he was upset and that it had a knock on affect.

Just like it did with Andy Cole and Teddy Sheringham?
Pure conjecture. Sounds as though you're insinuating players from different countries can't get along and that we have a Belgian clique within our club who don't mix with the others?
Suarez, Messi and Neymar get along like best friends apparently, despite their countries being rivals, so what happened there exactly?
If you don't understand how people growing up in the same generation, same country, sharing the same activities and then possibly playing for the same club and country are not more than likely to get on together then discussing this with you is pointless and time wasting.
When Spain won the world cup alot of the players were from Barcelona and Madrid. They form partnerships and are more likely to get on (obviously there will be disputes).
Same with Germany winning it, majority of players where from Bayern and Dortmund.
If that's the case, why were there always cliques in the England squad back in the 90's? United boys sat with each other, as did the Liverpool boys etc? Weren't they all from the same generation? Same country?
You honestly believe that Spain won the World Cup purely because they had plenty of Barca and Real Madrid players? Of course it was, because they'd never had plenty of Barca and Madrid players in the squad before had they? The issue with the Spain squad previously HAD been the relations between the two clubs, Aragones was the one who saw an end to the cliques and got them to gel, and it was that reason why Xavi, Puyol, Casillas and Del Bosque were worried about the damage Mourinho was doing to the harmony.

Pochetinno has that same character. He gels players together and creates a harmony.
Between having Poch, the current spirit and the players we have then yes Berahino being young and English does contribute positively.
There are many more factors involved too but were not having a full on debate of psychology.
And who said I think they won it purely because of that, its a contributing factor. You are trying to put words into my mouth and its failing. Just give it up, not really bothered here. No-one is going to change their opinion and there wont be an end to this otherwise.
I wasn't attempting to have a debate on psychology until you implied that buying loads of players from the same country means they'll get along well and succeed.
