Pep is better but he built the greatest club side of all time nobody was close but Jose still managed to bag a title in Pep's time there.
Speaks volumes. Jose can certainly compete with Pep more than any coach in the world. There's no other option for United to take if they want to attempt to take a piece of the city back
I got to give a lot of credit to the Man United board for their ambition and refusal to accept second best. Hat's off to em. I wish the Arsenal board was even half as ambitious as them.

Jose has won 3 Pl titles and has over 5 years PL experience. That isn't to be sniffed at. He knows how to win this league.
But this United team is pretty dire.

I respected George Grahams football and teams because they won trophies. Man United fans will appreciate winning trophies with Mourinho too, and say to hell with what others think or say.
Jose could actually bring vintage United back. I've never considered them to play pretty football even under Fergie it was very efficient and fast paced not intricate like classic Arsenal and modern day City.
This suits Jose a lot he's always had a superb philosophy regarding wing play, very direct and dangerous on the counter.
Besides The Invincibles I'd say Jose's title winning Madrid side is the best counter-attacking side I'd ever seen.
Mou seems to go for a solid base in MF then lets the front 3 do the rest of the damage with maybe 1 CM contributing.
He won't be getting a Cesc type of player again that's for sure (Mata to go?) but the tools are there regarding the type of MF that will suit him - Schneiderlain, maybe he could work well with Fellaini as a midfielder who knows and then a b2b marquee signing, maybe he will try to bring Pogba back as he tried at Chelsea.
It's a great appointment for United if it happens and I think attacking wise (as well as mentally) he's the closest style to Fergie amongst all top managers in the game.

He should be asked for assurances that he won't turn them into a laughing stock with his constant rants hoe everything is everyone else's fault andnot his own. Do bare in mind that at that time, he had the world's most expensive team, unlimited funds and no FFP restrictions. One of the biggest factors in what happened at Chelsea was FFP meaning that Jose actually had to MANAGE his way through problems. He couldn't just buy solutions from the transfer market. It'll be interesting though because as mentioned already, his antics won't be tolerated at Utd as they have been elsewhere.
The old guard at the club will not allow him to make a mockery of the Utd name. Chelsea had no class when he got there so it wasn't an issue. Been far too many class acts to come out of Utd, still associated with the club. They'll sack him in a heartbeat if he acts too much of an ass. Will probably even write some sort of "Acting an ass," claus into his contract allowing them to sack him without having to pay to the end. Will help to make him behave himself.
