Of course it's value for money for Wenger on his £8m a year pay packet.

He is a master of spin. People shouldn't take what he is says too seriously.

what he really means is this 'high prices are fine as long as I get a cut'

A socialist who is on £8M per year! Definitely not performance related pay.

Sorry to intrude on an Arsenal thread but I have a few Arsenal mates and feel obliged to comment on their behalf.

Arsenal don't have an issue with ticket prices.

Arsenal fans DO have an issue with ticket prices.

Its the opposite of being socialist. Wenger is a corporatist. If anything his way of business management is closer to the type of business management that was practised 20 years ago. Long before the tech companies changed thinking where the employees and customers are more important than owners.

If Wenger was a socialist or even believed in the principle that customers are the most important stakeholders in a company, he would be backing the fans. Without fans Arsenal are not worth a billion pounds. Its worth nothing.

Wenger will say anything if it backs the club and it's decisions. There's no point getting worked up over anything he says, he has to do it.

Why does Wenger have to do it? Whether it is Klopp (who is having a nightmare at Liverpool) or Pep (the best manager in the world.) they openly back the fans and in Liverpool's case against the wishes of the owners. If anything Wenger thinks he can over ride the wishes of the fans which is folly. Kroenke's know from their other franchises. Fans are the bottom line. Not managers.

You can still be a socialist if you're rich. Socialism isn't full on communism

But wenger starting to sound more like a politician toeing the party line these days. I know he cant completely have a go at the club. But he should also be on the side of the fans and sympathise with them more. Saying the prices are fine is only going to make the fans protest more anyway. because its quite clearly not right to charge £77 and above for football. Very hard for even a comfortable well off fan to afford.

Its cheaper for a family of 4 to go on holiday than go see Arsenal play. Ridiculous. Its like trains. Its cheaper to fly to spain then get from bristol to london. Crazy people stand for such high prices! nationalise the feck out of it!

Cultural Marxism

wenger needs to be concentrating on football, unless you are winning everything then theres no reason for a manager to concentrate on anything else

Not really. Contradiction in terms. Socialism core is common ownership. Whereas accumulation of wealth, capitalism, is the opposite to that. There are some who call themselves champagne socialists. Just a contradictory ideology created by those who inherited wealth but prefer to discuss politics in pubs than admit to their heritage.

If you're an Arsenal fan who's never been and will probably never go to the Emirates, then I imagine you would support Wenger's stance on ticket prices.

Disappointed with Wenger on this. But didn't expect much anyway. Arsenal fans are mugs though for never doing enough to protest this price

"Long before the tech companies changed thinking where the employees "

this is the biggest myth around

when tech companies don't hit numbers or can't find another round of financing, staff get sacked on sight and all the 'nice' perks get thrown unceremoniously tossed in the bin.

then usually everyone gets sacked without a package as the whole thing fails.

It's basically spending financiers cash on luxury until the business fails (like nearly every startup does).

Our prices aren't out of proportion to other clubs when you factor in London prices, all PL clubs are ripping off fans. Everyone could easily reduce prices with the TV money coming in and still have more to spend than other leagues but the PL sold out a long time ago and is becoming more and more commercial. The German model is ideal but we're getting further away from that all the time.
