Like I said couldn't get ahead of them two last year and only got in once Mason got injured this time.
For record I never want him gone
Yeah, pretty bad that so many fans had Mason ahead of Dembele in their pecking orders.
Mason was very over rated by our fans last season, albeit he has grown on me somewhat. Bentaleb is extremely over rated by our fans IMO.

Personally I don't feel Mason was overrated in technical terms but rated highly for what he bought to our team.
Let's not forget he was majorly important to us finishing 5th last year as was Bentaleb when the so called better players wasn't producing.
Bentaleb was better than Mason last season imo, and has more ability
When he's played this season he's been rubbish however
Bentaleb sits far, far too deep for my liking. In his defence he is probably being instructed to do so.
He's not good enough on the ball to be a deep-lying playmaker, and not good enough defensively to be a destroyer.
he just hasn't hit his stride yet and probably needs a run of games but unfortunately he won't get it this season.
Noticed he'd played for the U21 last week
Hoping he gets a bit of game time in the next week
Carroll is rightly ahead of him in the pecking order atm though
for me Dier has been our most important player this season-so why mess with wthat is working-and working well?
leave him where he is
Dier's has a dual role in our side. During games he plays in a two next to Dembele as a DM but he also drops back to make a third CB when our fullbacks push forward. So he has the best of both roles.
Yes, his passing could be better but it is improving and I'm convinced over time he will be far more comfortable in possession and play with a bit more vision.
Besides if some believe he will revert back to CB one day then who will he replace? We have Toby, Jan, Wimmer and the highly rated CCV.
Im pretty happy with what he has achieved this season and he will only get better. If its not broken don't fix it.

Not a chance has he been our most important player
This talk about Kante and Sandro getting in more tackles and interceptions is irrelevant really.
We are 2nd in the league, best defence, 2nd best attack and by far the best goal difference. This is with Dier playing DM.

I tend to disagree - I think Dier has been so effective because he play his tackling and simple passing game with the luxury of having two CB's behind him; he probably doesn't have quite the turn of pace to be as effective at CB in Poch's team as he does at DM. Also, he's been an integral part of our solid defence and spine this season, and having a 3rd CB to naturally drop in gives us the width with the full backs going forward that we lack without it. If he's happy in the role and the system is effective, why change it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not asking for it to be changed. I just think in the long term he is and will be a CB
I have to disagree with the OP as far as Dier being a CB long term and another post that says players should play in the position they played in as youngsters in which they have learned their trade. The line between CB and DM is not a country mile and the skill sets pretty similar IMO. The fact he was bought in as a CB is understandable but clearly Poch and his team have recognised the boy has more strings to his bow and it is paying dividends. As for will it work in the CL who knows, he’s 22 and still learning and more importantly he’s loving it and has been an eye opener for many.
As for playing in a position you played since being a youngster I completely disagree with whoever said it with the exception of the keeper role. I watched countless boys being played in less than their ideal positions as youngsters because of their size or pace and many dropped out of football because a crud coach was more interested in winning in the moment than recognising a lads real potential when boy became man.
The Phenom
no he isn't. he's made DM his own
=================
I agree. I always thought he was an okay CB but not great.
But after seeing him in the DM role you can see he was born to play there.
No doubt he will fill in at CB because of injuries and rotation along the way but his future at club and country is clearly at DM from now on.
There is an old adage "If you keep doing what you do, you will always get what you get"
Well so far we have got the best goals difference in the PL, the best defence, equal least gamesa lost & we are 2nd in the table & only 2 points off the 1st spot.
So for me its business asusuall, Dier is doing brilliantly & I can see him being a DM for years to come!
Football changes quickly. I'm not saying we should move Dier now. But things change and this won't be the same team for the next three years
The amount I'm stick I'm getting for this opinion... is it really that outrageous to suggest he'll be a CB again?

I wouldn't go as far as to say it’s outrageous - but possibly a tad naive.
Naive to think a CB by trade will be a CB in the long run?
We'll see
That said I don't expect it to change under Poch

Danny Rose was a left winger by trade - he is now a full back and will be (i assume) for the rest of his career.
Rose has been a FB for longer now, a good 4/5 seasons
This is half a season for Dier. Let's wait and see
