I wouldn't read too much into it. First off, the bloke must've been really tired - he'd have come from training with Everton this morning to doing all the stuff with us, then interviews, then getting his photo snapped at silly o'clock. I also get the impression that he's not really the smiley type!
As for Bentley, he's on 50k a week. People say that our spending is ridiculous, but how wrong is it all gonna go if West Ham don't get promoted? Bentley didn't exactly shine at Brum last season and I don't think he's worth that kind of outlay.
Maybe he was looking forward to playing Villa at home, and then realised that his next game is now going to be Barnsley away.
Have a look at any squad photo at the start of a season; loads of players don't smile. Would be a worrying thing if you read something in to that.
I think its a 'man thing' There is also the fact that perhaps he was feeling a little stressed; having driven from Merseyside with it being made clear he was surplus to requirements, arriving with 40 minutes to arrange his future career/finances and sign a contract to a new football club
Why do some people HAVE to find a negative, take your glass to the tap and fill it up and stop spending your life with it half empty....FFS
and yes I gave you 1 star for your pointless article....
He looks quite content on the photo to me!
Just looked at the photo myself and don't have a particular problem. He has more the look of a man who is quite tired, wants to go to bed, but has been asked for "one more photo please, Jermaine".
I'm not convinced with Bentley either. If Beckford has a suspected attitude, Bentley's is there for all to see. He has talent, granted, but it's mostly gone to waste and shows no sign of doing otherwise in the future.

Also, read the bloody article "FFS" I think you'll find it's a positive article, and you've focused on the negative, making you one of the very people you criticise.
If he was that unhappy he could have just seen his contract out at Everton.
Even if he was a little unhappy at first he'll soon settle in and just get on with his football. He'll be the main man here and if he fires us to promotion he may well be the main man in the Premiership.
Maybe it had just been a long day for him, waiting to see if he needed to jump in his car and take a drive down here, contract negotiations dragging on, late at night, ready for bed or maybe he just doesn't like having his photo taken
Correct, it may be all of those things combined, it was just an observation.
It must have been a tricky day for him
Hey Cantlebabes - there's nothing to worry about. The camera CAN lie.
I look really ugly in photos but I'am actually stunningly attractive!
'if you'd have told me that we'd have Nugent and Beckford as our strike partnership, I would have said that'd guarantee us promotion'........... Gotta laugh
Lacy-Boy - I love how you've gotta laugh at me saying that Nugent and Beckford is the best strike partnership in the decision, and your favourite player is John Stead.
Now that is funny.
'........... Gotta laugh'
Ermm okay.
Well take care anyway, been an interesting summer with the Maynard saga. All the best.
In what decision? Im still laughing.... have fun now.
Devision *.
You have fun getting relegated.
It was late at night and after everything happening he probably didnt want a camera in his face. Overall he probably is happy to be here for the first team football. Oh and to all the Bristol fans, why not post how happy you are about Maynard on your on board. We dont care! Have a nice day
Lacey, you've kept your prized asset for at least another four months and we've already moved on.
Everybody's happy.
