How does one counter attack when Elneny has not hit a forward pass since 1993?

What on earth is that

Am hoping it's just the layout of the text that's messed your formation up?!

If Arsenal have a prayer of going through, its based on tonights result. That means keeping a clean sheet and trying to get a goal advantage.

IF, we are say 0-0 or 1 nil up going to Spain we have at least got teh away goal to strive for.

If we let in more than 1 goal tonight we are out IMO.

so its a difficult balancing act, but I would go more defensive. An open game tonight is Arsenal out.

Listening to Wenger comments about the away goals, I think the team will be setup defensively today.
So I wouldn't be surprised to see Elneny alongside Coq,
But yeah we need to try to keep a cleansheet even if it means not scoring.

Think the game is too soon for Welbeck. Games like this are actually ideal for him due to his great workrate.

Giroud will defo start as Wenger will want him to hold the ball up lol

Elneny can't even make the match day squad for the prem how is he going to start tonight?

Yeh the formation looks a bit dodgy cause i did it on my phone haha, and hey sanogo somehow started against bayern, so why not elneny

Barca at 4/5, so you might wanna put a lot of money on it

I think Arsenal could snatch a draw tonight, but it depends how Wenger sets up.

It isn't the formation that is the main concern, more putting Elneny on their deepest midfielder all game.
Surely that pretty much nullifies the idea of congestion the midfield ?

Coq will basically have to cover Messi and Neymar coming inside, their full backs will play as wingers so we need a bit more cover out wide.

Barca won't be used to playing against a side using the 23212 formation, good plan.

Got no hope of keeping them out for 90 minutes. Their attack is even better than Bayern's and we were very lucky to stop them in the home game. Gonna have to hope we're clinical when we get a chance, think we'll need to win by 2 goals if we let in an away goal to have any chance of progressing.

Coquelin and Koscielny will need to be on their A-game in terms of interceptions tonight. Ramsey's box to box stamina will also be very important imo, just a question of how disciplined he remains, on and off the ball. Ox aswell, his power dribbling on the wing could relieve a lot of pressure, but he needs to be way more efficient with the ball.

These'll be the key players tonight I think. Hopefully Giroud can display some above average finishing tonight.

The formation is 4-4-2 diamond ahha

The height of our dreams for him

In an ideal world, Giroud shouldn't start tonight.

If Ramsey plays centrally, then the obvious choice to be on the right would be Welbeck (but this game might be too soon for him) and then play Walcott as main striker.

I would quite like to see this:

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Cech - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Bellerin - - - - Mertesacker - - - - Koscielny - - - Monreal

- - - - - - - - - - - - Elneny - - - - - - Coquelin - - - - - - - - - -

Ramsey - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ozil - - - - - - - - - - Sanchez

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Giroud - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I just think we'll need the box to box abilities of Ramsey in the side, chasing down Jordi Alba and then having the stamina to counter all evening as well. Once Alba is pretty knackered whack on Walcott.

Lose Giroud for Walcott and that would be the team I would go for it we have to ply Elneny

...and Isolate Theo because our midfield can string a 5 m pass to find him. Makes sense.

I quite like that. Mainly because you laid it out so nicely. Not like the OP's rubbish effort.
