That much is true, and I'd also throw in a bit of "good old days syndrome" for good measure. But that's why I wrote "as I recall".
As above Analog, just telling it as I subjectively remember it.
Nevertheless, it was mentioned in the context of a very wide variety of reasons that make it almost impossible to reach some kind of objective comparison between both players.
Bottom line is that using -as many do- "number of goals/assists/trophies" as some kind of all-telling evidence is just so inherently flawed that it's barely worth considering.
I agree, there are two camps. Either think Messi is better than Maradona by statistical evidence, or you use visual evidence why Messi is better than the Argie Ben Arfa.
