He abused his position, did something that we all know is illegal and therefore should be punished. End of!
There is a midway here... yes, he was completely stupid and she was underage, but it's hardly a child we're talking about here. No doubt she'd had it slung up her a few times and knew how to handle a nob.
In the eyes of the Law, he was innocent until he either admitted his guilt at court or was found guilty by trial.
He had every right to play for Sunderland up until that point.
Sunderland dismissed him within hours of his guilty plea. They acted correctly.
Fair point re: Sunderland, that Mighty

Amazing
Cant believe someone is defending him. A 15 year old is not fully mature and that is why they are protected by law. I remember as a teenager being a bit arrogant as well but properly grew up about 25 after years of partying.
An adult who should know better and grooming a child using his pksition in society is unacceptable and he should be sentenced for statutory rape.
Plenty of places around the world the age of concent is under 16.
When you see real pedos being let off and people with child p 0 r n on their computers getting nothing it would be a farce if he actually went to prison.

Not that I disagree with the general point there... but it's impossible to say they're not fully mature. In other countries the age of consent is lower than 16 and in others it's higher. There is no defined time when someone is mature enough.
It is however illegal, what he did and a morally incorrect abuse of his position. He should have the book thrown at him. Sundeland acted correctly. Soon as there was any evidence he did it, they canned him.

We all know you prefer boys anyway, but the sentiment is right
Come lets be realistic here. If the BBC can get away with knowing that most of our child hood hero's were nonces then nothing will happen to Sunderland. I think the aftermath of how their reputation will be affected will do some damage though. Rightly so too! Players think they are untouchable and live in a different world and i hope that this will be a lesson to others so it doesn't happen again.
It will happen again sadly, footballers brains are often in their b3llends.
Also I think what the OP is pointing at is that from May last year Sunderland have known that he actually kissed this girl as he admitted it to the Chairperson of the club.
It could be argued that he should have been sacked at that point and changed his plea to guilty, instead of waiting for the first day in court. Not really sure where his legal team are going with this in terms of his defence to the other crimes he is accused of.
The best bit is that Fletcher was prepared to come into court and admit he looks at Johnson's ding dong in the showers and that he isn't fully shaved hahahhaha!!!
