He must be buzzing, that confidence combined with the pace could really be an asset for Sunday.

Riley! Take a bow too, oh you Varela, you too!

Yes. Very well played.

If there's one good thing about the injuries and the small squad, it's the little bit of space it has given young players to develop.

Spurs have been an example this year of the fruits of giving your best youth players a chance. For the last couple of seasons Spurs, being out of the CL and not that close to the top four, have perhaps had more leeway to give their youngsters game time. Kane didn't have a revelatory first season but came of age in his second.

It would be a little bit of a silver lining if out of this injury crisis we managing to bring two or three academy products through to the senior squad. And maybe, even as we don't look back on LVG's spell as a successful one, a few home grown players will remember him with gratitude.

An explosive talent with confidence

Kid has an eye for a spectacular goal and is a real threat at set-pieces.

The UTD way

Nah, according to some the players don't deserve any credit as it was only against a crap team

But I'd say there is a key difference between what we and Spurs are doing. Spurs are choosing to bring through certain players (most likely their most promising), we on the other hand are being forced to play our youth and arguably not our most promising either.

Of course it's about taking your chance and who's the most promising aren't always guaranteed to do the best in the first team but still it is slightly odd that in Adnan, Wilson and Pirierra we have arguably not given our most promising players much of a chance.

Who's saying that? I think people are just saying to put things into perspective and 1 performance means little however positive it was.

He's gonna be worse than N'gog and Bellion.

1 performance like this can be the confidence booster needed.

Utd normally withdraw and look nervous after scoring/ taking the lead. Today they just hit the opposition with wave after wave

We will see Sunday but don't knock the impact if a win under such pressure

Come on mate, I've lost count of the amount of times I've read that tonight.

People are quick to knock the opposition but are quick to forget we had 3 kids playing with about 5 appearances between them.

Regardless of who we played those youngsters worked their b0!!0cks off tonight and played with pride enthusiasm and passion, something we've seen very little of this season.

It's not even the result, it's the manner in which they played.
A lot of the old timers should hang their heads in shame after watching a group of youngsters put them to shame.

1982, first of all, I'm primarily talking about consequence not cause. But secondly, if we're going to beat LVG on the head for the small squad (when he said early in the season that part of that decision was to let youngsters have a chance), I don't think we have the right to be pleased with the displays of some of the younger players without giving him a bit of credit. It doesn't absolve him of the awful season but this faint silver lining is down to a decision that he made and we criticised.

Not saying he doesn't deserve credit when they have done well because he clearly decided to rely on them as squad players. But I think people rightly were concerned he did as they felt they weren't quite ready which I think is fair and has showed. Spurs on the other hand have managed to get the balance right IMO and there hasn't been the worries of having to rely on the inexperienced the way we have.

And they are rightly being applauded for the performance, but that doesn't mean they've proved anything yet.

TBF Hazard has been absolute dogsh-t all season.

What I particularly liked about our young lads tonight (and Memphis as well) we the fearless nature of their play. Reminded me of how we used to play in our best days. These kids showed how apathetic some of our regulars have been, they attacked with vigor and confidence. Proud of you young Rashford.

1982 (if you're still around) I guess we might have had a bit more balance in how we introduced youngsters if not for the injury apocalypse. But I agree we can't laud LVG for the scale of the youth opportunities as if it were entirely by design. Just think we should acknowledge that we wouldn't have seen so many youngsters emerging this season if LVG had done what we all wanted and given us more experienced cover.

He's clearly better than Hazard, local lad too.

He is the second coming of Messi

Amid the doom and gloom this season, I am thankful to see a lot of our young lads come into the team and do a job this season. Some have taken the opportunities awarded them and some like Mcnair appear to have regressed even further.

As usual we have our usual injury collapse but well done to the lads for coming in and putting in the effort for the shirt.

So this one goes out to the youngsters;

Borthwick-Jackson (The Second Coming of Evra)
Perreira (The Second Coming of Scholes)
Lingard
Riley (The 3rd Coming of Wayne Bridge)
Rashford (The Black Messi)
Varela (The second coming of G Force Nev)
Love (The second coming of Rafael)
Keane (The second Coming of Van Nistelrooy)
McNair

Hopefully you go on to have superb careers, preferably at Utd. I just hope the next manager gives you chances where possible.
