My aunt is Spanish, she's from near La Coruna but you would never guess, she has the thickest Leicester accent so to hear her talking to us proper Leicester and then full on Spanish with her mum was cool. She looks Spanish to be fair and when she speaks Spanish, you don't think she's English. I was always fascinated by that as a kid.
It happens when you grow up speaking 2 different languages fluenty. I also have my own N London/Madrid accents, but over the past few years my Spanish has picked up bits and bobs from the Andalusian and Canary Island accents.
Weird thing accents, how some people never drop theirs while others start taking on the local accent within months. I've got a sister who's lived out in HK a long time and some of her English has become pretty cringey!

Real Madrid, and a fan of the Spanish game in general. I'm UK born, but my parents were from Madrid and my old man was a RM ST holder back in the 1940s. I've been back in Spain for over 30 years now, but over in England I still have a soft spot for Ipswich.
I'm not too tribal about my football though. I enjoy the game itself beyond partisan allegiances, and in recent years I've found greater pleasure watching Barça than Madrid - unfortunately.

My aunt is Spanish, she's from near La Coruna but you would never guess, she has the thickest Leicester accent so to hear her talking to us proper Leicester and then full on Spanish with her mum was cool. She looks Spanish to be fair and when she speaks Spanish, you don't think she's English. I was always fascinated by that as a kid.

It happens when you grow up speaking 2 different languages fluenty. I also have my own N London/Madrid accents, but over the past few years my Spanish has picked up bits and bobs from the Andalusian and Canary Island accents.
Weird thing accents, how some people never drop theirs while others start taking on the local accent within months. I've got a sister who's lived out in HK a long time and some of her English has become pretty cringey!
