I'm as gutted as anyone, but strangely I don't feel the need to slaughter the players.
Penalties are a lottery, caballero was just outstanding in the shootout. It happens sometimes, remember dudek in the champions league final?
Mig does have alot to answer to yet again. Game was going nowhere before his blunder.

Exactly. Liverpool have had some shocking games this season but that wasn't one of them

Only player I was getting to slate was NIG but he redeemed himself.
Cities pens were outstanding as well, Mig guessed right but still couldn't get to them, all low and into the corner.

We'll forget all of his other outstanding saves then. There's plenty of other players had a worse game than him. But carry on your hating

he more than made up for it tho, made some great saves

Most of the saves are what you expect your keeper to make but what you don't expect your keeper to do is let a cross in.

Racist.

---------------------
To be fair he more then made up for it. Obviously you'd rather he not need to make up for a mistake but he then made 2/3 very good saves and kept us in the game
Also fair play to Pellegrini for sticking with Caballero and going against all the advice about his goalkeeper. I too thought he made the wrong choice
That save from yaya at point blank on the goal line was outstanding.
As was his save from aguero in the first half.
And in extra time.
And the one against Fernando.
I'm migs biggest critic and believe we need to replace him but he made four saves today that were outstanding. Had he no saved them but saved the easy one no one would have said anything but we would have lost before pens.
Kompany kept that back four really tight
Our attack broke down regularly in the final third.
I give half the credit to VK, the other half is our forward line not at all being gelled yet
Just didn't go out way.
Mig was poor for their goal but did other things very well.
Lucas pick was the right one as he had a great game.
Our pens were poor apart from Can's which was immense. All very save-able heights and direction.
Shame we bottled the pens but that's football.
I thought the players did very well to get to pens as I feared the worst at 1-0 and even at start of ET with them having 3 subs and us none left.
In the end it just wasn't our day but we gave it a good effort after two days rest.
Can's was the most saveable one of the day
Yeah, Can was just lucky keeper went the wrong way. Cout's was awful, Lucas and Lallana were good saves in my opinion.
we're just kumquattin'
you?
Can waited for the keeper though, great calm.
The others just picked a side and didn't execute well enough.
You knew Coutinho would miss, he looked petrified bless him. Two games at Wembley for us though and two goals so can't knock him.
We are getting close. Semi's, finals just the final step now.
Yep I am encouraged by our cup performances.
We aren't far away from winning stuff again.
Got to keep our league season alive by beating City on Wednesday and then beat the Mancs and keep Europe going.
Still lots to play for and I love Klopp.
He's a winner and will get us there.

Coutinho scored in both the other shootouts, you are going to miss one when you play as many shootouts as we do.
People complain about the stuttered run up but a number of times the keeper indicates which way he will go and you can put it the other way. It looks bad when you miss but that's the risk you take, didn't help the keeper was practically next to our takers when we took them ( what the feck is the point of that official on the line when he does feck all when the keeper is miles off his line?)
Proud of the players, let's keep going. Believe we are on the right track.
