Yeah he get's my vote, I like Buxton and he's had a great pre season & great start to the season, keep up the good work Lewis

If Madine carries on scoring he'll be getting more POTM awards

Prutton was a close second for me. Think he ended up second on OS as well.

Very close with madine, but probably just shades it.
Keep up the good performances Lewis.

Madine? Talk about celebrating mediocrity! He's 'starred' in 7 games in August and scored 3 goals. In fact I think he's started all those games. He has distinguished himself more in being booked or substituted than he has in scoring goals. Or perhaps you think he should've been given the award for wriggling out of an arson charge...

I voted for Prutton.

A bit harsh Izzy, you have to look at the fact the lad has been left out to dry on his own up front for the majority of matches, he's clearly not and never will be a lone striker, so for that reason he's done well.

I agree with Buxton, he's gone from really poor IMO to being the outstanding defender since Meggo's arrival, thoroughly deserved and I agree that he was closely followed by Prutton and Semedo for me! Although I reckon the boy Marshall will be scooping up a few, he looks a different class to what were used to!

UTO the futures brights, it's blue and white!!!

I don't just judge a striker on goals though, although 3 in 7 (5 full games) is a decent return. Over the season that equates to 20-25 goals.

I just think he's led the line well & he's got his reward with the 3 goals. I may be a little bias being a forward myself but hey ho.

As I said, the right man won it but Madine would have been in my top 3 along with Semedo.

Buxton is by far & away the most consistent performer & pretty much has been for 3 years!

I prefer to lok at the fact that he's started the last 2 games and scored 3 (all since the timely arrival of Marshall)!

All I'm saying is that I don't see him as a player of the month for August. I am also pleased that he scored those goalhanger tap-ins the other day. However, before he scored them (most of August) the majority of people on here were moaning about him not finding his 'shooting boots'...hardly 'player of the month' material.

imonster, I agree that you are biased. Yes, strikers do other things, hold the ball up, beat up pub landlords etc. But surely the main thing on which they must be judged is how many goals they score!

Well deserved for Buxton. Only Semedo came anywhere near. Prutton has done OK - but no more than that. Madine? Give over! He's had the equivalent of about 1.5 decent games and has simply been poor in a couple. However, his performance v. scunny was much more like it and I reckon he's now getting up to speed.

I guess I just know what it's like to play up front, to run the channels, to have to challenge for header after header, to have to close down full backs & when you do all that without reward like he was doing in the first few games then I applaud him & for me that edged him ahead of most of the others.

Let's be reyt, as a striker you wanna be scoring goals but when you're not even being given chances to miss it could easy to get your head down, he hasn't & that's to his credit.

Of course, the main judgement will always be goals but 3 in 5 full games & 2 part games is decent, isn't it?

Anyway, I don't expect everyone or anyone to agree but if I had to give a top 3, he'd have been my 3rd pick.

As I said the right man won & as a few have mentioned, Semedo wasn't far behind.

Where's the Madine maffia when they're needed? I got lynched the other day for suggesting dropping him for Blackburn, god forbid. "suffering" may have a stroke if he lands on this thread.
To be fair, he was excellent against Scunny but other than that he's been very luke warm.
I'd have gone for Semedo mesen.

Except he wasn't doing it in the first few games. He was below par v. Rochdale, poor v. both Blackpool & B'Mouth. For the first 25 mins. at Bury you could easily have forgotten he was playing, but then he put a proper shift in for about 45-50 mins before he faded. He was ok v. Notts and I genuinely felt for him at B'burn where he got absolutely nothing and then he had a good game v scunny. I'm not judging him on goals but on his all round game. And in case anybody thinks I'm on some anti-Madine rant - you couldn't be more wrong! The main reason I'm disappointed with him so far this season is simply because he's more than capable of producing his scunny performance on a more regular basis and his failure to do so isn't purely down to his team mates' failure to provide adequate service. However, I do think he's getting up to speed now and we'll see much more consistancy from him, especially now we've signed Lowe. I'm really looking forward to seeing that partnership develop this season.

And I'm really pleased that Buxton is getting some recognition. He's been given some unfair stick in his time with us. He might not shine all the time but he doesn't have many genuinely poor games.

Totally agree. I voted Semado as i think he is CLASS but Buxton has done well.
