Shoring up the midfield,Our final gambit

Elneny doesn't look ready. Yes I know anything at the moment will be better than Ramsey but with Coq not playing well and Ozil just doing assists and not much else, our Mf won't be resolved until Cazorla returns

posted on 29/2/16

whats your problem with Ozil castor? He does what he is employed to and presses well.

posted on 29/2/16

Have not got a problem with Ozil. He puts in the free kicks and corners but his overall game doesn't really help our Mf on the whole

posted on 29/2/16

I agree with your team selection but Welbeck-Sanchez-Ozil combination looked fluid and dynamic yesterday until the total midfield collapse and Ramsey on the right hasn't been as poor as he has from the middle but then we do have better player in Campbell who can play the Ramsey role but just that much better. ..

-------Cech------
Bels-Per-Kos-Mon
-------Coq---Elneny---
Ramsey or Campbell---Welbeck--Sanchez

The thing is without Cazrola, its very simple for opponent...Just markout Ozil from he game...then there is no creativity in the midfield whatsoever.

So if Ozil doesnt do well that gives an excuse for the other 9 outfield players to play like chit?

posted on 29/2/16

No but it's predictable how he will perform on Saturday

He will get marked and pressed out of the game

posted on 29/2/16

To suggest Ozil is a set piece merchant is just nonsense.

he's not quite the all conquering, Bergkamp reincarnation that some Arsenal fans suggest, but still our best player and one of the leagues top players.

This

I have always said that this arsenal team only has 2 creative points, Santi and Ozil. Ever since santi got injured Sanchez has tried to compliment Ozil by being creative but he either over hits the pass or chooses the wrong option. Hence his game has suffered as he has taken it upon himself to drag this team and his game has fallen to pieces.

Another option is to force him to play up front or on the right but we still need to have another creative player to relive Ozil when he is double marked. Giroud is still crucial for this team because we can by pass midfield with long balls and he holds it up while we join him in attack. He actually does this as well as anyone in the premiership.

The biggest problem has been the inability of the supporting cast to make runs either side of him.

I'm not disputing Ozil quality. With the right Mf he would be even more effectively.

Unfortunately we have one of the worst current Midfields for years so it is difficult as he isn't the type to control a Mf

Elneny in the middle is not a massive gamble. Ramsey is so atrocious in that position it will take an awful lot to do worse. We just need an average premier league cm in that position who can retain the ball fairly well and pass well and safely and it will be 10 x better than what we have with Ramsey.

Where is Arteta? He'd be my next choice if we dropping Ramsey

The more I think about it, ramsey compliments Giroud more than any other player at the club and runs well either side of him.He needs to get back to the right and with Welbeck on the other side we will have more height aswell.

I know its hard to drop sanchez but i cant see anything else that will work.He will be more useful from the bench.

I am even thinking Arteta next to Coq wouldnt be a terrible thing.we need to nullify Spurs and frustrate them.

The lineup needs a shake up, bring Elneny in for Ramsey (I don't care if he hasn't played, we need to take gambles), Campbell back in for Walcott, I'd drop Sanchez if we had more options and even be tempted to play Iwobi. A message needs to be sent to these players that you can't continue to be pi$$ poor and expect to start, a lot of our players seem like nancy boys that think they can prance about with minimal effort being made, a shake up is needed.

Whatever combo in Mf we use against Spurs won't work.

They will hunt us down like pool did at anfield.

Leicester and Spurs have got something that Arsenal lack- they are up for the fight. You cannot rely on other teams dropping points. Even if they do, our form is not good enough. We are perennial also rans. Leicester are in a good position to win. If not, Tottenham are well set up for winning the Premier League and a period of medium term success.
I understand that Levy wants to sell and if Tottenham win the Championship they are well set up to attract a wealthy owner who - unlike our parasitic American - will no doubt invest in the club. So...what have we got to look forward to in the coming years? My instinct tells me a Spurs team, which, after a 50 year wait, will put Arsenal in the shade.

But hey! 4th place is good enough for unambitious Arsenal. Coquelin and Eleny should get us there, so what's the beef? Who needs a top class midfield? Far too expensive for Arsenal.

iwobi is not ready.

We need to outnumber them and deny them the little triangles they like to make. We must obviously avoid bone head tackles or other stupid challenges.Just shadow them and deny them space. They arent that creative, we simply need to compete though.

Closing down Kane and Eriksson will go a long way although Lamela is useful when its his day.

Probably April, just in time to save top 4 for another season.

I made a similar suggestion in another thread. We can't concede midfield to Spurs they will murder us. We need to sacrifice the wingers IMO and play a more compact midfield with 2 leading the line.
